What microphones are we using?

I have a few mics to choose from, been wondering what everyone else is using. Here's my list with notes...

SM57 - pretty much the standard. I can hear what one sounds like though, and on most profiles it kinda drives me crazy. This is the mic I used on most of the profiles I've uploaded.

E609 Silver - another popular guitar mic. I don't like it alone, but blended with the SM57 it can give a fuller tone. haven't made a profile with the two yet.

dba Driverack RTA-M mic - this was a suggestion from a guy at my local GC who worked in some LA studios. This mic is VERY flat frequency response and was also about the price of an SM57, so I bought it to try out. I used this mic on my Fender Twin profile I put online. I also did one of my Mesa mark III but it sounded a bit dull. Not so sure about this one yet.

So is anyone using a ribbon mic? Thinking about getting a fathead... what do you guys think?

I love the R121 for guitar amps.

For my Elmwood profiles I used it mid/far field and that gave me the best 'in the room' sound.

I have used both a 57 combined with a Shure SM7, blended. The 57 usually is blended up , but not all the way, to give it that mid range and high end stuff, and the SM7 more fullness and body. on my EVH 5153 profile, I used a 57 combined with a Fathead II with lundhal transformers, blended the 57 up to taste to get some of the rasp and grind. I don't like the 57 by itself usually unless its placed really well, but I like it in conjunction with another mic

Indeed. Ribbons rock, especially since we can only use 1 mic with the KPA, a ribbon is my preference. I used the R121 so far, will use the AEA R92 next.

may be a late contribution, but having mic'd up guitars for ages - the Sennheiser 906 is pretty much my go-to mic for cabs. Got to put in some work into it (shaping the EQ and stuff), but yeah, sounds great everytime!
