I've got the controller EVM from mDan, but am using a different controller right now. Still have one of the boards and all the major ICs that are soldered onto it. So if anybody is interested contact me via PM.

Hey rob,

I'll Probabily take off you, is it just a matter of connecting a shortboard too it or does it need 'work' putting into it?

Cheers

The whole thing is converting the proprietary Line6 protocol into a standard MIDI one. For this task you need a micro controller with some software to interface between the Line6 and Midi. As a micro controller an Arduino 1280 EVM is used (about 25 EUR).

The controller board from mDan is interfacing between the Line6 Shortboard, MIDI and the Arduino micro controller (opto-coupler, signal levels etc.). Also the software for the micro controller is from mDan.

So the set up is as follows (ignore dots):

Line 6 Shortboard ---(RJ45)---> mDan's Interface Board ---(MIDI)---> Kemper KPA
.................................................................... /\ ....................................................................
.................................................................... || ....................................................................
.................................................................... \/ ....................................................................
......................................................Arduino 1280 uC EVM

So you need:
- Shortboard
- mDan's Interface Board
- Arduino 1280 uC
- power supply, 9V
- RJ45 and MIDI cable
- some kind of housing or case to put in the uC and the interface board.

Alternatively, you can directly include the Arduino and the Interface Board into the Shortboard.

So I think some basic handicraft skills in electronics are necessary to fulfill the job, but then you will be rewarded with an inexpensive controller with lot's of functionality and nice stomp pushbuttons.

mmm unfortunately I don't possess them skills.

Has anyone on here actually successfully got this fully working? Do all the functions work wah etc?

Cheers

Actually, I think there are a few people on the board running this at the moment. The software for the uC has previously been used and tested with the Axe Fx (you could use the Line6 Shortboard also to control the AxeFx with this interface).

I was also part of this project and I wrote most of the source code that runs on the micro controller. I continued the developement and made it compatible with the KPA. Here's a short clip explaining the development (The explanations are written in German but I hope the rest of the video is self-explaining).

Please be aware that this is currently a so called offline solution. Every change in the KPA needs a new synchronization with the micro controller.

If you'd like to get access to the source code please send me a message. But I am not able to support you in technical questions regarding the hardware-interface - maybe mDan can post the schematics for the hardware here. I will not build more hardware-interfaces and/or housings. Please don't hesitate to send me questions regarding the source code but don't send requests regarding the hardware. Thanks.

Hoschi,

Yes I'm interested in obtaining the source code - but sadly it appears you have not enabled your Kemper Forum private message system - so I can not send you a request.

Please send me a PM with more details.

Hi,
I'm also interested in this project. I'm an electronic engineer so I might be able to do everything myself, please send me the code for running the microcontroller.

Thank you very much in advance.

PS do you anything about the project by Vlotech? http://www.vlotech.nl/?q=node/252
