I don´t understand why is it so hard for people to understand that just because it is easy to make a copy of something that does not give you the right to get it for free or share it and don't pay anything to the author.

Ok, first of all don't confuse Open Source with user generated content. KPA is not Open Source since we don't have access to the source code of any part of the software running on it. KPA relays in user generated content but that does not mean that it has to be free or that the author of that content has no rights over it.I don´t understand why is it so hard for people to understand that just because it is easy to make a copy of something that does not give you the right to get it for free or share it and don't pay anything to the author.
So you think if i buy a profile like a 57' Deluxe, tweak it, assign another cab, and make it sound like a hotrodded Deluxe, i don't have the right to share it with the communitiy ??
Weird discussion - isn't it ?
Ok - real life mode on:
There's no way to avoid the sharing of profiles except protecting them in a way that will restrain the "open source mind" of the KPA!
I've booked a profiling session in a recording studio in february, and the value of the amps i'm going to profile is about 20K cabs included!
The studio fee is about 50 Euros per hour!
I wan't to profile those amps in a professional way for my personal use!
And i'm probably going to share those profiles FOR FREE!!, just to give back to the community what i took from it.
If more people act this way, this place is going to grow and make lots of happy KPA users !
Trying to make money out of every opportunity is NOT COOL ANYMORE !!!
That's my point
Cheers
I'm not considering that unfair, but i think that the people who charge for profiles will be trying to protect their profiles from sharing by compromising the KPA software, and here things get nasty.Even if you consider unfair that somebody charges for something that you give for free
The point is that you are not who decides free sharing if you are not the author and you should not have a problem with that. If your concern is the KPA software, I would not worry about it since the users have no control over it. If you decide to sell and protect by copyright your profiles at the end it is up to you, the author, to take care of that not Kemper and the only thing you could do is sue anyone that violates the terms of use.I'm not considering that unfair, but i think that the people who charge for profiles will be trying to protect their profiles from sharing by compromising the KPA software, and here things get nasty.Even if you consider unfair that somebody charges for something that you give for free
I've got no problem with somebody who charges for profiles, as long as free sharing is still possible.
Agree. Bad taste or not, everybody can decide to buy or not to buy. So far no problem.
