Hardtail to Floating conversion

  • Hi guys.
I have an assembled stratocaster made with an MJT Aztec gold alder body and a Warmoth reverse neck, hard tail bridge and 3 Klein single coils.
I love this guitar, but i was thinking about a pair of mods:
    - put a Dimarzio Transition in the bridge (thank you webdiver, :cursing: LOL :D ), so changing the routing from S-S-S to H-S-S.
    - change the bridge from Hardtail to floating bridge.

So, i know that the first option must be done by drilling a larger hole, but no problems.
What i wonder is if there's any floating bridge whig can be installed without any big modification, like grilling the bridge cavity and things like that.
    Thank you in advance.

  • The Kahler style bridges are the only solution i know of where no cavity for the springs is needed in the back of the guitar. It only requires a small cavity for the spring that is sitting under the bridge. It's very tuning stable and the sustain of the guitar is not affected too much. I got one on an ESP and i prefer it to the Floyd Rose Unit i have on another axe.
