Well, charts and measures do are fact. You can't measure a guitar combo in a manner which gives you valuable info about what to expect, but you can measure a device designed to be linear or accurate under any respect. It's just a matter of finding what to measure, and to build standard procedures so to be able to make coherent comparisons.

Anyway, I want to help too! As for me, answering a guy who writes "I didn't like the X device", and who probably didn't even know how to operate it, does is helping him. I don't criticize opinions, but if I have the impression that those opinions are bad-formed for any reason I always try to correct them. Not too much tho, since at the end of the day what matters is that people are happy with their gear. Unless some comes up again with the notorious "the Kemper sounds digital to me" or "the CLR sound boomy to me" statements. The presence of that "to me", which is often just a way to cover their a**e, doesn't make a shareable opinion out of the sentence.
In this case, helping them means to show that it's user error and not the device's fault, IMO

Please let me add that I'm not touchy at all with anything regarding the subject CLR. Why should I?
And I payed the full price for the two I own.

I'm also a strong proponent of the Yamaha DXR series and have been for a long time.
I also own two of them and paid full price as well.

Just for clarification:
The Yamaha DXR series have a mixer with a preamp that allow them to amplify even mic levels, whereas the CLR expects line level.
That's why it is possible to go into the DXR with a passive instrument and have a decent amp without the need of a preamp.

The people on this forum have been great, and didn't mean to point fingers around here (lingering pain from other forums , and both of you guys have been wonderful and very informative. And Ingolf always has the level headed perfect answer.

When I was a kid, my music dream was to own a Mesa/Boogie (which was for me like dreaming of owning the Titanic, or something on that line: The Ultimate Source Of Emotional Sound...) and a PRS. It took me 30 years to achieve that. I was set for a while, but then the Profiler came out... And then the CLR...

Who knows, now I could be set for a good while! i must confess I had progressively lost any GAS in the years even before the Kemper era, while becoming aware that all the gear under the sun won't make a better musician out of you

Today, I'm basically a one-sound kind of guy... I'm fascinated by those who can recognize the tube brand in an amp by its sound or spend weeks chasing Gilmour's tone like Maurizio and others can do, but i guess my nirvana would be to have one versatile sound whith wich being able to play anything and everything, and one instrument I am able to turn inside out with closed eyes like my socks

Having said that, when I produce a song i appreciate the various sounds amd nuances of PUs, woods, tubes and the like... It's just that I do 't care much

i'm very seriously running a serious series of serious tests. Keeping them on the whole night with test signals to check whether it's true that they don't break in at all, as many say.
Also, at first I've been checking them as a home stereo subsystem along with a cd player (which os one of the applications I planned/hoped to ise them for). I'll report back if someone is interested.

Congratulations!
I bet you'll use more stereo FX in all their glory from now on.
