here's the situation-
playing a gig where minimal gear is taken due to travel/luggage restrictions but can specify what amp/rig is provided on the rider.
I'd choose a KPA and (hope to) get away with just my guitar and a USB stick.
Is it worth doing a firmware update on the KPA at the destination to make it compatible with my backup?
I'd hope that as the KPA is becoming globally used it shouldn't be an unusual item to request though it still leaves the matter of a suitable midi-pedal and a half-decent FRFR monitor.
Coming from a non-powered rack KPA and being given a toaster (powered or not) shouldn't be an issue, should it?
Any other precautions or advice you guys can think of?

Yes, I'd do a firmware check (and eventually update) and a backup restore.
This will give you exactly the same profiler experience as your own. -
but hey... tip#2.. don't blow out his memory until you've asked if he has a backup...

Thanks for the tips. Could I expect a conflict restoring a 2.4 backup into a kpa running version 2.3 or less?

Make sure a KPA is available before doing too much planning.
If one IS available:
Ask that it have the latest version installed.
Ask for an email address, so you can send your backup file, and have it already loaded.
Even if they say it will be done, take your USB stick with you.
Do a Back up BEFORE you load your rigs.
Restore the backup AFTER the gig.
