Recently I was playing my real tube amp + making some profiles of my small Jet City 22H head and I came to this findings:
1. I miss the picture of glowing tubes while playing (maybe connected with fact that prehistoric man was staring into fire all the time )
2. I miss the smell of tubes burning the dust & the heat coming from the amp
3. (This one is very placebo) Playing through Kemper sounds somewhat better, while staring at real powered-on tube amp

Lol excellent !!! I miss the cooking tube smell as well as the old 70's tolex smell & spring verb

I do miss the lovely smell and the slight 'tic, tic, tic' as everything warms up.

I don't miss the loud noise that my wife used to make which was along the lines of 'TURN IT DOWN!!!!!'

I was recording the other night through headphones and I had every confidence that the result would be what I wanted. And it was.

The smell and the tic noise is wonderful but missed but I've got over it due to the benefits

I don't think the standardised hamster test is used any longer, except in some back street underground set ups
