Profiles for the Kemper Profiling Amplifier

August 15, 2014 – Legendary rock producer, Michael Wagener, introduces his newest project, MW RokPak. The MW RokPak is available for purchase with options of three different Paks:

    • Studio Pak
    • Xtension Pak.

  • I don't really see any reasons for a shitstorm. First of all there will be a pack with free profiles like promised and as far as I know this is the first pack by a very well known producer, who's been in the business for decades and produced some legendary records with great guitar sound. So that's a total different backround compared to a lot of other competitors (with NO disrespect to them). Only time will tell if the sounds are as good as the price that is demanded, but on the other hand ... if you think about how much the amps, the mics and the outboard gear are worth alone to produce those profiles then it's ridiculous to think of it as a high price. It's a lot of money, that's for sure but don't forget what you get for it.

The only thing I'm curious about is to know if the freebies are from this rokpak, because then you could demo a few of those profiles and decide for yourself if you're going for the full pack or not.

And besdies that I think this opens a new door for a specific kind of profile selling. Who's to say he'll be the only top porducer pr engineer to offer such packs. I'm really excited to see where this is going to evolve. (Dear Matt Bellamy and Trent Reznor, if you're reading this ... GO FOR IT :D )

  • Hey guys, thank you for your comments.

If the $210 (are $240 after September 15th) is a bit to high for your current gear budget (believe me, I understand gear budgets), you can get all my essential amps in the Studio Pak version of the Rok Pak for $110 (until September 15th, then it will go up to $140). You can update with the Xtension Pak to the full Über Pak later.

The sound samples are here: http://mwrokpak.com/amps/ They are divided into heavy, medium distorted and clean sounds for the three videos. Not all the sounds you hear in the videos are in the Studio Pak or the Xtension Pak, but they are all in the Über Pak. There is a list of all the amps used in each Pak here:
    http://mwrokpak.com/shop/studio-pak/
    http://mwrokpak.com/shop/xtension-pak/
    http://mwrokpak.com/shop/uber-pak/

Each amp has been profiled with different settings, at least two in some cases up to six.
With each Pak you will receive the actual Profiles, a PDF sheet with all the info about amps, speakers, microphones, mic-pres etc. You will also receive a hires photo of the particular amp settings for that profile plus a sound clip, so you can hear how the profile sounded here with the guitar it was created with.

But most important, you have access to 200 profiles, with sounds that I have been using in my sessions over the years, and that include every single amp in my studio. Everybody should be able to make great records with those sounds, i have been doing it for years and I am still doing it using those Kemper profiles in my sessions now ;)

Let me know if I can answer any questions about the Paks here.

    Cheers
    Michael

  • ok had a listen to the 3 sets of clips, and certainly pleasantly suprised. im not usually a big high gainer and lose patience with profiles that mush out, but plenty here seem to keep their composure/clarity. My ears pricked up when the egnater tweaker started, and I thought ooh what's that? then the pic came up and saw my own amp :D . its a sign, i'm in!

  • Considering who made these profiles and the bands he's worked with before, I'd say it's a very good deal. Look at it this way, it's just over $1.05 a profile for his time and he even includes Actual amp settings etc. Oh yea and most importantly The Wizard amp is included. Thank You MW You Rock! \m/

  • Very special mixture of amps: Egnater, Engl, Stramp, Randall, Splawn, Rivera ect., it seems to be a collection of boutique- and exotic amp. No Fender, Vox, Boogie and just one Marshall.

I listened to the demos and liked the medium- and heavy-samples, but not the clean ones. There I'm missing the Fender and Vox "sparkle" that I love so much and urgently need (--> Andy's '59 Bassman or Armin's '57 Fender Deluxe).

I think this is a very special pack and therefore it's a great addition to the existing commercial profiles.
