Hi,
Does anyone have profiles of the Marshall Major amp, made most famous by Deep Purple/Rainbow's Ritchie Blackmore?
One of the best sounds in guitar history... I really would like to have this one. Anyone know somebody who owns one?
Cheers

I listened to the Blackmore sounds in Rig Exchange and also to the commercial Engl profiles, but for me, they just don't cut it... I'm convinced you will only get that sound with a Marshall Major.
His Major was custom built with two cascaded inputs, so a profile of another Major might not be any closer than a cranked Plexi, or a Plexi that was profiled with a stompbox in front of it, or adding a stomp FX in the Kemper.
How close is your strat to what he used back then? That info, and a song reference or two might help people make Rig suggestions.
I know he also used an Aiwa tape recorder as a preamp, which influenced his sound. I realize it will be impossible to get his sound entirely, but I think and hope that a Marshall Major would get me closer already. I think my Strat is OK after discussing with many Blackmore freaks. It's a Mexican 50ies model but the tremelo is diecast iron and I changed the pickups with Custom Shop 69 Fender pickups.
Here's a great reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j997YPCwDk : 16th Century Greensleeves (Rainbow) - listen especially to that neck pickup sound!
Thanks for your help!
