Hi folks, complete newbie to the KPA but have read/seen loads of stuff about it and finally just ordered the rack profiler which arrives tomorrow. I only play at home now and have a little bedroom studio that revolves around a 24 track tascam 2488 Neo, a 20W Toneking Imperial 20th anniversary and Boogie Mark IIc+ amps. Really looking forward to getting stuck into the KPA which, from everything i've read and seen, looks to be a great solution for me, just need to sort out some decent monitors for it. Great forum !!
Cheers

Welcome!
If you are using studio monitors with your Tascam, you may not need anything else to hear it for recording.

Welcome
You can play it thru a reg amp also, results will be mixed. Power amp thru cab will sound better with cab sim off.
Headphones have a new parameter as well, cant remember name atm, but a decent set will sound nice with it.Happy new KPA day, and have lots of fun with it

Thanks Guy's. Can't wait to try it out, the only speakers i have at the moment are just a pair of Ramsa 200As hooked up to a Peavey powered mixer, i think the KPA probably deserves something a little better. Imperial amps don't have an FX loop unfortunately but i could try it though the boogie i guess. Will try a few variations and see what's the best option.
Cheers for now. -

Well, got it today and spent a good few of hours playing with it. Have to say i think its absolutely brilliant piece of gear, well engineered and designed. Had the latest firmware release too so i guess its pretty much fresh from the factory. I thought most of the rig presets i went through sounded great too . Have one small issue when i connected up the L and R Main ouputs (Stereo) to my portastudio multitrack recorder, when i bring up the mixer channel faders there's a weird (presumably) phase cancellation going on and when both faders are matched level there's no sound output. If i increase or drop one of the faders on either one of the channels i get full volume again, i've never encountered that before so need to investigate whats happening there. Other than that its exactly what i hoped it would be and a lot more.

Weird. It doesn't "sound" like a phase issue tho, unless the two channels are at a perfect 180° (this might hint at a phase inversion on the recorder, might there be a function you've inadvertently switched on?).
How's the Output set on the Profiler?
-
There's a phase switch on the Portastudio. Accidentally turned it on by any chance?
-
Solved guy's thanks to both of you. The problem was indeed that the channel strip Phase switch was on, resulting in a 180 inversion i guess. I've just had the Jog wheel replaced by TEAC on the unit and i think it's probably something that has inadvertently happened when the unit was in for repair. Anyway, all is good now thanks again for the help.

Nice you could sort it out! Welcome.
I am interested in your solution for the speakers. @home i have rokit 5s, which is okay.
i strongly recommend buying some professional profiles from andi44, armin or mbritt, IMHO a better world for the KPA. -
Hi and thanks. I'm currently using 2 passive (and rather ancient) RAMSA WS-A200s driven by a peavey XR86000 powered mixer and although it sounds great, i plan to get some active monitors at some stage which i think will do the KPA better justice. I've just bought some Reinhardt Storm 33 profiles from TAF this afternoon and just trying them out now with a Les Paul, they sound really good. Need to get a Fender brownface Vibrolux 63 rig also
