TAF-CustomShop 30 OUTNOW!

  • also FWIW i also got basically the exact same rigs to load as well, althought I got one of the Royer 121 cranked profiles to load (the first one). I also got most of the stomps to load, in total I think I got about 35 to load. Still, I hope this is resolved, as I do not use the rig manager and I'm sure I'm not the only one, I just personally don't have a need for it right now. And I really don't feel like having to go buy a USB cable to get these to load either. :D

  • I figured that was the case. Also for what its worth just to help you narrow down: I tried a number of different combinations to import, and had no luck with a few combinations, so there might be more than one damaged rig. For instance, I tried importing only the Royer 121 cranked profiles as I am mostly interested in the 121 based profiles and could not get them to work nor the mild breakup ones either. I had only those on my USB stick and no go.

  • Yeah, Im using Stock FW, 2.73, all rigs load fine, doesn't appear to be an obvious problem at this point.

Using RigManager they all import perfectly. but USB stick it seems to be a bit random on the amount it imports. Ive wiped KPA and imported 3 times with 3 different results).

So for the short term use RigManager (Ive contacted support already)

Its So sad, and really am Sorry for this. its really not nice being the problem child here.
    *sigh*

  • Appreciate the issue with loading from USB but think that's a firmware issue nothing to do with Andy's profiles. These are amazing and worth the wait for this to be resolved, I see a new firmware has been released today so hopefully should bring everything back to normal

  • Was going to pull the trigger, but the note in the bundle description (NOTE: This is a TOPBOOST model and result of this is brighter tones than normal.) made me wanna check the free demos and the samples first. Just now tried to download the demo profiles, but I'm getting network error when pushing the "Free Download" button in Checkout (yes, signed in).

EDIT. Now the glitch went away by itself and the checkout works OK again...

Edited once, last by JuLai ().

  • Im still working on a "import" fix. - but hope to have this resolved soon. so RigManager is the only option currently..

On another note: - This pack will be educational for some people to hear what different mics can sound like. - and even to my own surprise, my fav mics I did not prefer on this amp.go figure, so it is interesting for me to do this also.

Offset "1" being the darker profiles, (Norm chan) then i raised the Brilliant channel through 2 to 4.

The Vox is (and has always been) a very sensitive amp (guess its why its the hardest to profile), It was perfect with my strat, but with my tele's and to my surprise it was darker sounding (not in a bad way, in a good way) it retained the clarity and twang. - in fact ALL my guitars sound very different through these profiles, and react the exact same way the amp did.

  • There are a lot of VOX profiles available and most are very bright, what I'd call "brittle", yet none in this pack approach that level.

While there is a variety concerning the Top Boost setting and mic used, they are still natural and you may finding yourself on some mics and guitars actually wanting to turn the treble up.

I grew up hearing VOX's that the Beatles used being VERY bright, but when I've read about them, they often used a Strat or P90 Casino and having the signal put through an Abbey Road EQ module set for lots of treble. For Nowhere Man, Paul said they ran it through the EQ 3 times before they were satisfied, so unless you are used to playing a real VOX, you may not realize that VOX's are not THAT bright as such commercial uses would have you think. Especially Les Paul users.

The VOX is a very versatile amp from my playing with one. A great one to do so many mic profiles of. It does it justice.

    Well done, Andy!

  • I really dig this pack and appreciate your "new" approach. The profiles sound stellar! It´s quite interesting to hear how the different mics sound and how that affects the chain. At the moment I enjoy the M160 profiles the most. One some rigs the definition parameter is set to zero, I had to adjust that a bit for my humbucker guitar.
By the way I had no problem with the download and the import via Rig Manager.

  • Thanks guys.

And yes. The m160 supprisd me too.. its a passive Ribbon mic, (dynamic ribbon) - and on some amps no matter where you place it, it comes across harsh, but on this old vox it really worked.the Royer is one of my all time goto fav mics.. but on the vox its just not the best pairing..
The Dpa/46mxl/M160 are my own personal favs from this pack!... on another amp that fav list would be a lot different.

Vox amps are _Really hard to record_ because they push a LOT of air more so than other amps, (Frail grill cloth sucks) and so gotta be real careful where you place ribbons...

However... pair the R121-1 with say the M160-4 and you have a very big sound to boot!..

  • The demo ones convinced me to purchase the whole lot!

Run quickly through all of 'em with the headphones and two profiles seem to be having some issues. They sound somewhat unreal and are clipping the output with their enormous output levels (other 122 were consistent and sounded good). Tried to delete and re-import those two using RM, but didn't help..

    The weird behaving ones are:

    • VOX AClean SM57-3
    • VOX Stomp Cruiser-
  • The best gift for a u2 fan! Sounding like the edge for less than 32 €... Andy, you're the father Christmas (now I secretly dream of a true metallica pack as only you can do ^^ and why not a good silver jubilee)

  • how are you guys getting these to load via the rig manager? with a usb cable or just importing the zip file into the rig manager and exporting them one by one? Because the latter does NOT work any better for me either. I've tried other USB's as well.

  • No problems via RM. I always unrar first then drag'n drop.

I'm agree with Tom. "FX" profiles are kinda gift. My favs are the bright ones of DPA/M160/MXL.

Andy, great work again, thanks. And I think focusing on one amp with this style of packing is a nice move. Keep up!
