Differences between old KPA and new off the shelf?

All KPA are the same old or new. The only difference is the colour. I have a toaster from about 2 years ago and a rack I brought 8 months ago. They are both the same (other than the valves are more worn in in the older one lol)

trust me me you will not be disappointed with the KPA the sounds and ease of use are excellent. You can really tweak if you want or do as little as possible it's up to you either wayit will blow you away

as for the FCB it's not a bad pedal i don't mind it but I'm sure the KFC will blow it away. For the time being you could pick up a used FCB with an Uno4Kemper chip and you will be sorted

Consider it like this:
Be it a Toaster or Rack model, all Kemper's have a feature allowing it to be brought up to it's current performance standard just as a new one.
So, even with a used model (barring any abusive history), will have (and will continue to have) OS, Factory Rig packs, Accessories, Utilities and an ever growing culmination of profile selections available to you. Cool huh?

There has been an issue with a batch of units produced in 2012: the LEDs controller was likely faulty, and LEDs were dying after some weeks\month\years.

Till now, all the units exhibiting the issue were still either under the 1\2-year store warranty or the larger 3-year Kemper one. But check the purchase date of the unit you're going to consider, to be sure there's still room for having it repaired in case.
Note that not all the units produced in 2012 show the issue, on the contrary I believe it was a small batch overall.

I bought mine in March 2012, all leds are fine. Do you know what range of serial numbers is affected?

No, sorry, AFAIK this had never been shared by Mothership.

You might want to inquiry about this, your label being different might actually be enoug for them to go back to useful information.

Except for the labeling (I also have an early one with 'master' instead of output) there should be no internal differences.
Marco also measured different spaces of the back cavities.

My idea was rather that the different labelling might be a time-reference to place the unit with respect to the faulty LED controller batch, of that makes sense

No, it's the knob above master volume named 'master' and later renamed to 'output'

Yeah, labeling definitely doesn't indicate what units belong to the batch that showed LED problems.

How do you mean?
Of course I'm not saying that the units with a certain label are faulty or keen to break. But most probably, all the units with the faulty batch have the same label.
