Have amps, will profile the Quick Rod: Lets make some profiles...

  • I sent you a few of my first profiles Tim..... a little payback!

A couple Carol Anns and some Komet Concorde......tweak some settings and let her rip.

I sent them to Jer as well ....looking for some feedback as I didn't use a mic. ;)

    No mic? I'm intrigued ...

  • So, oddly enough, one of your g3\OD one profiles sounds much closer to my amp setting than the profile of my am settings! I got something dialed in, and I'll try to get a clip later.

  • Makes sense to me, Jer. Gear 2 is a bit darker than gear 3, but tim's bass settings are higher than the ones you posted.

Still not feeling gear 2, at least relative to the others. Even with a boost in front

I also use a Splawn 2x12 loaded with Celestion Creamback 65's so that will affect the tone as well. Really wanted to try and profile my amp this weekend but too darn busy. The Gear 3 profile I tried is really good though.

Question on the Pure Boost in the X spot, does it effectively do the same thing as raising the profile volume up? I engage for all Tim's profiles and it really makes them pop.

  • Session-4 profiles are up.

In this session we will compare the Celestion Vintage 30 (which has been used for all HAWP profiles to date) with the Scumback M75 65W 8ohm speaker.

Both speakers were installed in a Carvin Legacy 412 cab (I have two). The only difference is that the Vintage 30's are 16 ohms and the M75's are 8 ohms, I mention this because it is possible that the different impedance will result in a different tone from the amp, I haven't tested or proved this theory but I thought that I'd mention it because the possibility is there.

I didn't go crazy making a bunch of profiles because I just wanted to compare the two speakers, so if you find one speaker more to your liking then by all means request a custom set of profiles with your speaker selection and tone/option settings and we'll give it a go.

  • Sesson-5 profiles are up.

In this session we will compare wiring a 412 cab in series/parallel vs. parallel/series.
Some people claim that there is a difference, I offer no opinion on the subject, it just so happens that I have a switch on this cab that lets me select either one so I thought that I'd make a comparison in case anyone is interested in trying to compare the two.

To be honest, I didn't really listen to these closely, I only quickly tested them to make sure that they worked. I would be interested to know what you all think, is it just a myth or do you hear a difference?

  • RE: session 4:

really like these a lot. I think it's the best so far, and interesting to compare the two speakers. In general I definitely preferred the scumbag for the lower gain, and like 30 for the higher gain and/or with an OD stomp. I have a strat with Texas pick ups so it tends to be more treble sound, which is probably why I have these preferences. The scums muddier sound mask some of the treble at the lower distortion outputs but once the overdrive kicks in the clarity of the v30s is preferred.

    LOL Scumbag!

Thanks for the feedback, I haven't had enough time to really try them out so it's good to hear other peoples thoughts on them.

If you want to try some different settings with the Scumback's just let me know.
