Playing Extremes "He-Man Woman Hater"-Intro using Beat Scanner?

  • Hi Everybody,

I wanna play Extremes "He-Man Woman Hater"-Intro and take advantage of the Beat Scanner. The Song-Tempo is about 200bpm. The Delay is set to doted eights with a 50/50Mix and only one repeat. However, the problem is that the beat scanner only goes up to about 160bpm.

Do you know any work around? Is there maybe a delay division, that might work, if the beat scanner thinks I´m on 100bpm??? Or is that a valid feature request, that might be useful to others a well?

    Greetings

  • Are you taking about the flight of the wounded bumble bee, I haven't listened to that album for a while (what an album that is though) and if my memory serves me correctly that's what it's called before He Man woman hater. I think Nuno uses the delay here to play another note for every one he plays so feedback set to 0 and the mix set quite high making it sound as though he is playing it twice as fast. im not a delay genius but I know there are some guys on here who are very good with delay settings. Beat scanner i would think would be able to be used as long as the delay settings were set right for that particular song eg feedback etc sorry I couldn't be much more help

    Hi Raoul,

you´re right: Flight of the wounded bumblebee - that´s the one. I wasn´t sure of of the nameing here cos it´s not a seperated track on the album or in the score...

  • We must be the same age Raoul! It seems we learned (or tried to!) the same riffs at the same point in our teens, hahaha! Nuno, Vai with Whitesnake, Always with me, Always with you... ;)

    Cheers,
    Sam

lol I'm 34 these guys were really big guitar Heros for me great music and great playing Every song on pornografite was awesome. I must have spends years trying to learn all them songs

ive seen beat scanner go in its 200's also is give it another go :)

  • Now that´s funny. The manual states:

"When the tempo is set to your satisfaction, just release the TAP button or switch, and the tempo will stay constant. You can create any tempo between 80 and 160 bpm."

Following your advice, I turned the rig tempo to 200, activated beat scanner and it worked around 200bpm. Great.
Tried to recreate it with another rig, it didn´t go over 160 very far before switch to 80... 8|

    EDIT:
And now I´m comletely confused, as by trying it a third time, after having Kaffee und Kuchen, beat scanner worked up to 204....Ahhhhh ;(

  • There was a reported problem at some time about how it reacted to certain tap tempo footswitches. I think they fixed it. Need to get a tap tempo button myself. But beat scanner is supposed set the tempo based on how you play, so if you play faster, it ideally should be able to display the higher values.

Even if the manual states, that it works only from 80 to 160 correctly???

Your quotes, man, not mine! I haven't really looked into whether it's working "correctly" or not. I don't really fool with it too much, preferring tap tempo.

  • Hi nightlight,

no offense intended! I´m aware, that I quoted myself. I just wanted to know, what you think of what is written in the manual...is it a typo? Is the beat scanner mentally unstable...

None taken, hope I didn't come across as brash.

You'll be the best judge of whether the beat scanner meets your needs, man! I missed that part in the manual (did my reading of a revision before the beat scanner was incorporated). It could very well be a shortcoming and in my opinion, limits the usage of the beat scanner. I'm guessing you feel the same, since it isn't working at the tempos you are looking at.

Then again, as mentioned, I don't have much use of the beat scanner at present. It would be wonderful if that clock information could be output from the Kemper, or it synced up to the looper on the Remote. As things go, tap seems to work efficiently,

  • I tried both and couldn't get the tempo to go above 160-170. When I hit that point it jumped back down to 80.
may need to go half of the desired tempo and adjust the delay note as needed.
