Hey, I need some advice, when recording S/PDIF with my Kemper should I always set my session to 44.1Khz/ 24 Bit , would it be a problem to set my PT session to 44.1/32 Bit float already what I usually do? I know there are no 32Bit converters for recording, they are 24bit, but when have kemper as clock source should I worry about this setting in Pro Tools?
Sry when it's a weird question
Recording Digital with Kemper as Master

I don't think so - I'm pretty sure the 32bit floating point is only for internal processing anyway, your interface is likely only 24 bit anyway?
-
Yes your right most likely. Thanks for jumping in at any rate!
Recorded Files are larger because of the added Headroom, Avid support told me I can benifit from recording in 32Bits in quality of the audio, less rounding and so forth, think I stay on 44.1khz/32bits for recording with the kemper as master.
48khz would be nice, maybe I go the analog route, hard to decide in the end.
-
There is no sonic benefit when recording at 48 khz.
-
Yes but would rather fit my workflow for digital recording and later processing thats why I meant, all my sessions, recordings are 48khz actually so far.
-
If you want to use 48 khz you need to use the analog i/o of the Profiler.

No, you can do that with the kpa, you know it
-
Yes that's what I will do in future then, go for analog Output to my SSL Pre -Avid HD I/O Just wanted to mention the cleanest way for DI's would be the possibility to record the DI 48khz with the kemper s/PDIF direct. In case that I prefer to record in 48 khz.
well , analog is fine for me too!

it's possible to put the kemper at 24/48khz.

Mm that easy? I've seen a topic about the hidden Artist mode or so, can I change sample Rate there, how exactly? I don't want to mess up my DI, thats the important piece for me when i would go for Kemper as Master because Re-amping I will use the analog way anyway.
-
I personally wouldn't mess with the hidden system settings as advised by KPA
-
Actually I only would use it when its also recommend by kemper company that its save to tweak there,
What my personal question is to Kemper, why this hidden mode with this features? I assume it's not made for us. Then why call it Artist Mode ?
I don't get it. -
It's not Artist mode that gives you this option.
-
Oh alright, didn't know, haven't checked this out so far, only read about a hidden mode.
-
Rather don't want to deal with hidden internal system settings then
-
Yeah I haven't accessed the hidden mode either but have read about it. I'm one of those people who doesn't like to fiddle I like to stay safe
-
Is there a official statement of Kemper about this hidden Mode after the one thread? For advise us customers to take care and not changing anything internal??!!
-
I think Timo/GString chimed in and said don't mess with it
-
Nice, will follow this advice then. Thx

The debug mode is hidden for a reason. Messing with the settings in Debug Mode is not recommended and very bad advise. Any damage resulting from doing so will not be covered by warranty.
