Hi guys. I've been using a non powered CLR for a while now and have been very happy w it. Thinking of adding a powered CLR now and am
wondering about the tone difference of the Neo version vs. the standard powered/ heavier model. Has anyone compared them?

I have not compared them but I believe the only difference is the weight.

There is a good shootout btwn the 2 on youtube. Neo apparently sounds a tad brighter

Wouldn't that be against Atomic's standards and premises that the CLR is absolutely neutral sounding?

Will try to find that thanks!

Cannot find that video

Guys, the comparison (that I have not seen) most probably uses two different power amps
JM (the designer) stated that the response of the loudspeakers in themselves is identical. Of course different power amps would likely produce different sounds.

Why would a powered speaker need a power amp?

Good question. Perhaps Mr. Mitchell will chime in here.
I still believe there is no difference. -
Oh, my mistake. I erroneously got the OP was asking about the differnce between his passive cab and the active NEO version. Please disregard what i wrote

I still had my CLR for a month while I beta tested the NEO. To be honest I really couldn't hear any difference. I just used a A-b box between them. But for me being the old guy that I am the light weight was a huge difference
-
I hear you! This is the main factor that keeps me from taking my CLR out as much as I'd want.
sadly, they are not yet available for the EU area AFAIK -
Lighter would be great -it's no 4x12 but I still prefer to use a 4 wheeler with it. Sounds like the Neo version is a go. Getting on the list.

Thanks, nice to know!

Anyone ever find that shoutout video between the standard powered vs the Neo version?

You can trust that there's no meaningful difference between the tow active versions. If any, those are negligible for our uses
