I received a lot of great tips and pointers here a while ago on a work-in-progress version of this track. Since our deadline was looming and I still have a lot to learn about mixing, I wasn't able to implement all of them in the final version, but I think I've managed to solve a couple of problems and will be able to avoid them in our next recording. Thanks again everyone!
Anyway, since the sampler album it will appear on is now public (it will be distributed for free on Graspop Metal Meeting), I can finally share the finished track:

... not that kind of feedback.
I'm looking for comments on this track I recorded and mixed at home with my band. It's meant to be included on a sampler CD among tracks from other bands in the same genre. We always make home recordings of our songs while writing them, but this is the first time we've put this much effort into it. After an album and an EP recorded in a professional studio, it's kind of an experiment for us to see how far we can go on our own...
It would be great if I could get some first impressions from you guys. Does anything stand out? Any particular "n00b mistakes" we could still rectify?
Oh and all guitars and bass were recorded through my Kemper, of course! Check out the Harmonic Pitch effect in the solo at 4:02.
