How to easily fix a remote cable (or make your own)

Just picked up a RJ45 lan cable crimper on amazon - can find one there or locally at a home improvement store. Get some RJ45 ends, and when (not if, WHEN) the plastic locking tip on your cable breaks, you can cut it off with the tool and replace it. You can find instructions for making a cable easily on the net, or find a nerd with networking experience to do it for you. Also will be easy to make custom length cables, spares, etc... once you've done this a few times, it's actually much easier IMHO than soldering a guitar cable, believe it or not.

One suggestion for the next generation profiler - have a locking end like on the remote on the Kemper side, so the plastic tab isn't necessary.

I use feed trough panel because of the fragile connector. Definitely would be cool to see a locking connector in the next version.

Got one of these, no tool except a cutter knife needed for mounting on the cable.

is this something you plug the original plug into, IOW it doesn't replace your plastic plug?

i was rather referring to the original plugs, to assemble your own cable or to have it assembled at a hardware store

Looks like a very good but expensive solution #HELL-G ...

I found a cheaper, but very effective solution which works just perfect with the broken RJ45 connector clip of my remote cable ...

I do recommend this:

... and the delivery to the UK was 5 days from order to my hands

Ethercon is fine, but even one of the rubber boot-caps you put on a RJ45 cable to protect the locking-pin would be a huge improvement over the unprotected RJ45 plug provided with the Kemper remote. €3 buys you a bag of 50 caps.

I hated those things when I did networking. Especially if you had to change anything in a patch panel with dozens of cables next to each other. Even with the rubber boot cap, the plastic is going to move back and forth and will eventually break from the fatigue. The boot cap would keep it from getting twisted back though for sure.
