KPA DAW SAVER > A little plugin that can save current rig with your DAW session.

  • Rig Manager use USB for the transfer, so it must be possible. but even without this, your vst is great !

Yes - RM uses Kemper driver for this - but this driver is not visible to the OS as a midi device. Plugin use MIDI devices visible by your OS .
USB connection would be much faster to transfer RIG data . I hope one day KPA will have such MIDI driver.

  • This is interesting...
"Get and save" -button sends three sysex messages to Kemper, here's the first one:
    f0 00 20 33 02 7f 47 00 00 00 06 0d 20 f7 (this seems to be "request filename for current rig")

This is what Kemper sent back when I tested it:
    f0 00 20 33 00 00 07 00 00 00 06 0d 20 7b 44 4f 43 55 4d 45 4e 54 53 7d 2f 4b 65 6d 70 65 72 41 6d 70 2f 52 69 67 73 2f 53 50 4b 37 37 20 45 35 33 30 20 31 32 30 35 31 37 5f 34 20 55 20 2d 20 32 30 31 37 2d 30 35 2d 31 33 20 31 32 2d 32 36 2d 30 31 2e 6b 69 70 72 00 f7

    Now bolded part to ascii -> {DOCUMENTS}/KemperAmp/Rigs/SPK77 E530 120517_4 U - 2017-05-13 12-26-01.kipr

  • The KPA DAW Saver for AU has been updated and now works as an Instrument plugin in Logic 10.4.1.
It passes AU validation. Create an Instrument Track and select it as an Instrument and the Kemper as Midi targets.

I'm finding that it will ONLY work with saved profiles. It will not take a snapshot of currently edited Kemper buffer. This is disappointing since I'm try to avoid saving all the edited variations of the same profile that occur during tracking. I just want to take a snapshot of the currently tweaked profile for easy recall with the audio track.

There was some confusion in previous posts about using an Instrument plugin in an audio track in Logic. This will not work. You must create an Instrument track for the plugin to work.

Always a good idea to make sure your Kemper is backed up before trying this.

    These profiles go to 11!

  • Looks great! Perhaps a dumb question but can it be used with multi-port midi devices like MTP-AV etc?
For example I have two and my Kemper's midi I/O is connected to port 6 on one of them.
Could it just work on that port without having to disable the midi in the DAW?
Just wondering... I use midi for something, midi or hardware control, etc in every session -also daw controller so disabling midi is not a an option... just wondering - thanks in advance!

  • yes, you just choose which port the Kemper is located at for midi in and out.
You have to use midi, can't use the USB port because there's no USB driver for the Kemper.
