Best EQ for surgical cuts?

  • Whenever i record, especially with a distorted profile, i find i need to make 2 or 3 "surgical cuts" with EQ, that is with a very low bandwidth/high Q. Theres usually at least one for "hissssss" and one for a higher pitched screeching. Once they go back in, they hurt.

Which of the KPA's EQ's would be best suited to getting this done? Can anyone see a drawback to doing this in a live scenario?

    Thanks

  • If you are able to find the good frequencies and Q-factors, the only limitation would be the number of required slots in case you need more corrections than what a single module can provide for.
Let's say that I'd look for an "upline" cure: a sage use of the noise gate and of the lowpass filter with the right profiles is usually more than enough on stage for me.
