Massimo Varini's Biagio Antonacci Tour's Rig Pack

  • as Gianfranco said, if I don't get wrong, the project seems to be more for a fan and students of his kind of 'client'. But I might have misunderstood....

as a matter of fact, in the italian kemper FB profile Varini's fans said they would pay 10 times more for his profiles....a respectable opinion which I don't dig it!

  • 70 Euros?
I doubt that this test balloon will fly...

As Michael said, I think this pack has been put on sale (and thought) for his Italian Fans: Varini has received many requests for these profiles...I think it meant to be a product mainly for the Italian market (Massimo Varini has a very strong fan base community on his website's forum: they were asking and waiting for these kemper profiles). Kemper users around the world may not even know Massimo and all his works in the Music Industry (again: mainly italian based) and especially Biagio Antonacci (the singer Massimo has playd for since the early days): these are some of the profiles used in the last italian Tour.

Sorry, i'm not trying to justify...just trying to explain his vision. Think as if Wagener put out a 12 pack called "Extreme II: Pornograffiti" with 12 of the best sounds of Nuno. ; )

  • I don't speak Italian or have a clue who the artist is, so I'm not sure why I keep coming back to this thread. I've been watching it with the same attitude as everyone else since it started, but that changed once I saw the demo video. Yeah, it got me REAL spur of the moment, so I purchased the pack...

Before I give my first impressions, let me just say that my taste in tone basically boils down to boutique and classic amps. My KPA is stocked with mixture from of all MBritt's packs, some Bert Meulendijk profiles, and a few Tone Hawk Studio profiles. I bonded with these profile makers b/c their products sit in the mix so well without having to "produced" to the point of losing the amp's character. Their profiles sound great on all my pickups (not just the bridge), and they bring out my creativity. With all that out of the way... these Italian profiles are up there with the best I own! In fact, the 63' Tremolux, Marshall 59' HW, Brunetti 059, HiWatt DR103, and AC30 have already replaced some of my go to profiles! The included stomps/effects are also really good, and that's coming from someone who usually doesn't use included stomps. About the 12 profiles thing, it's closer to 25 when you factor in the Performances, not to mention that the profiles are of such quality that you could easily make 20 fantastic profiles from each amp. Anyways, I just wanted to put some good vibes out there for this pack now that I've played it. Spending $70 odd bucks on a profile pack isn't the norm for me. However, finding a "players pack" where every profile is unique and usable... when even my all time favorite packs typically only give me 5 - 6 usable profiles... it makes me feel like it was money well spent.

  • As I can not read italian, it was not possible to order.

To topic: The video makes me curious for the profiles.
It could be an interesting experience to see, how a Profi organize his Kemper for a tour.
Obviously he is not so interested to entry in the business for profiling, but gives a chance to see what profiles he use.
I do not care so much for the money of a dinner for two in a normal restaurant, if the quality is OK.
If I think how much it has to be paid for a T-shirt with a signed photo in the merchandising area of a concert - I never did :D

  • What are in the Performances?

Amp tweaks, the same Varini uses as variations of the same 12 rigs. But with other fx as well I guess?

There are 8 Performances with different tweaks / effects on the included amps. Now that I think about it, this is the only pack I've ever purchased that came with Performances. It's pretty cool to have "Pro" tweaks on his profiles instead of the usual 3 - 5 profiles with different mic placement, pedals, etc. It really shows off that, when created professionally, profiles react very naturally and as you'd expect them to. Here's a clearer PDF than what's on the site explaining the profiling chain. If I'm reading it right, he used 3 different mics on a custom cabinet that houses 3 different speakers. This must contribute to how balanced the profiles sound and feel. If I can find some time this evening, I'll record some samples.

Horses for course, I guess. Personally the different profiles/mic positions/flavours of dialing in an amp to capture it properly like @and44 and @Armin do in their profiles is exactly what I expect as a customer.
And I'm perfectly able to create performances myself according to my personal needs and I don't want to pay 70.- only to see how somebody else does it or prefers it.

No arguing with that, except for the fact that profiles always react naturally regardless if they were made 'professionally' or not.
Again, my 2 cents, not arguing with the quality of the profiles which I neither have tried nor intend to.
