I decided to finally mess around with merged profiles and cabinets: so far the results have been excellent: except for one head scratching issue. I saved one of @Deadlightstudio favorite cabs that I enjoy: a cab from a merged profile (his jubilee A6 profile). I have since saved other cabs that I enjoy from deadlight. However, the marshall cab profile (the silver jubilee profile) is the ONLY cab that, when selected, has the "merge cabinet" button come up. I know for a fact some of the other cabs I have saved from him are from merged profiles as well, so why am I not able to "merge" these with other profiles, and only the jubilee cabinet works??? and yes, I am positive I am trying to merge these other cabinets to DA profiles or other merged profiles. Any help or ideas? for the life of me, I can not figure what I did right to make this cab mergable: lucky for me its one of my favorite cabinets, but I would like to try others as well. Thanks for any help guys
Problem with MERGED Cabs and profiles???

Firstly, unless it is you that has made the DA and Studio profiles, DO NOT HIT MERGE. Merge is there to initiate the process of separating the Cab portion of the Studio profile by subtracting the DA profile. It should only be done once to create the Merged profile from the identicle Studio and DA profiles. Once a Cab had been separated (or "merged". I realise that this term is misleading), it doesn't need to be merged again. You can just copy/paste the Cab into other Merged or DA profiles. The Merge function should only be used during the profiling process.
As for your question, I haven't a Scooby, sorry!

Man I guess I'm just confused here... Adding this cab to a DA or merged profile sounds 10x better after hitting the merge button, I guess im just really confused here.
-
When selecting a DA amp profile ( for instance, Tim Owens dirty Shirley DA profiles with no cab attached) I get the same thing: only this cab from dead lights jubilee profile will have the soft button " merge cabinet" show up: none of the other saved cabs of his.. I'm just getting more confused here!

Well, if it's working for you, carry on. It's not the way it was intended to be used (and is confusingly named, after all), but if it sounds good, it IS good!

I was JUST about to post this. I like the cut of your jib, sir!

Its strange...when it works for you...it works for you yes. But this cabinet is allready merged...and i tried it - the merge cabinet button does not show up here with this cab again.
Keep in mind..this is my darkest Marshall cab micing. Will not work with many amps...only with really bright sparkeling Amps/settings where a single SM57 close to center will be to bright -
So do I have a bug/glitch here or something?? What is the "proper" way to take a cab from merged profile and attach it to another merged profile or DA profile then if the merge cabinet button does not appear normally???

as already stated, you only have to hit merge cabinet when you are creating a merged profile.
make a direct amp profile
make a studio profile
go to CABINET
copy the cab
go to the direct amp profile
go to CABINET
paste the cabinet
merge the cabinetIf you're just swapping cabs, no need to merge them, in fact that would create unpredictable results.

Thanks Don... I mean I guess I get it... I guess I'm just confused why I can "merge" this particular cabinet with other DA or merged profiles, but not other cabs I've saved that are from merged profiles, this just does not make sense to me.

Yep, this might hint at some bugs... it might be worth investigating IMO.

happens often that the merge cabinet button shows up again..adding merge cabinets to other profiles. Not always but normal to me...i just ignore this.
Ingolf you can try it on your own..Its cab A from Silver Jubilee pack that you have -
The cab/profile sounds 10x better "merging" it with another profile/amp verses copy and pasting via the "normal" method... Regardless of what is going on here, it needs to be addressed is my thought personally...

Only if the authenticity of the result is impacted. If it sounds subjectively "better", that does not necessarily mean it is more authentic. Likewise, if a profile sounds better with the bass knob turned up, that's not authentic to the original profile, and might sound better - but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with the kemper...

The point is IIGIR that the Merge function should not be available\active if the machine's owner is not the author of the profile?

I don't think YGIR but in any case, this should not be a problem, as long as original cab and amp authors are retained - like when you swap a cab out in a regular studio profile and save it as a new profile.
-
Well, PIDNGIR, but why should the following be allowed?
the marshall cab profile (the silver jubilee profile) is the ONLY cab that, when selected, has the "merge cabinet" button come up.

Um.....what???
