AX8 for effects only with Kemper owners opinions

  • I Finally recieved email to get an AX8 after many months of waiting.
I need to make a decision quick on whether or not to get it.

How does it work with the Kemper? Just for effects.
    Any tone suck?

Are getting it for the effects worth the price?
    Easy to use?

Any things I need to consider before dropping this money.

Any opinions from other owners that use it with the Kemper for effects would be much appreciated.

  • I originally wanted the FX8.
Now I don't remember if I signed up to be on the list for it or not. 8|

I am not sure I am too interested in their amp models. I like the Kemper.
But to be fair I have never heard any Fractal in person. This would allow me to check them out.
All be it a bit more limited.

Is it easy to just use the effects?
I don't like tweaking much at all.

I do know I want their effects though.

    What do I do? ;(
I can get an AX8 now or I can wait and hope I put myself on the list for the FX8.
How long can I wait to act on the invite?

  • What other all in one effects would you be talking about?

I would take a Digitech GSP1101 or T.C. Gmajor 2, if I need more effects in a rack unit. Personally I would do a couple of Strymon (Big Sky, Deco) pedals to compliment what the Kemper has.

  • I wouldn't recommend the Ax8 for a few reasons, one you don't like tweaking and 2 it does not send midi cc so you could not change presets on the Kemper with it.

I basically want an all in one effects processor that-
    Is relatively easy to use
    Very high quality effects
    No tone suck
    Not digital sounding

    Is there one like this?

I don't mind tweaking effect parameters, just don't want a clunky interface.

I looked at the Digitech and the T.C and did not like the sounds at all compared to what I have heard from the Axe.

Now I really do like the Strymon Big Sky. I almost buy one every time I listen to it.
I believe I may just do that but it still is just a reverb.
Well, not just a reverb, but a killer reverb.

I am trying to avoid a floor full of pedals.
    Very expensive pedals.
If I get all of the Strymons I would put out way more than an Axe.

  • I got the AX8 a few weeks ago, in all honesty i didnt think it was that amazing. hence why i sold it a few days later.

I have thought about getting the FX8 however. Just for effects and switching between profiles on the KPA.

  • The Eventide H9 might work for you.

I'm on the list for the XL+ but now looking into the Kemper rack unit. I really hate having to be put on a waiting list just to spend several thousand bucks of my money to someone. nice to have more than one option though :)

Kemper looks very nice... tempted to pull the trigger!

I originally got my KPA because I got tired of waiting for the Axe.
    Kinda glad I did.

  • Thanks for the recommendations.
I checked them all out but they weren't for me.
I watched some Youtube videos on the H9 Max but it sounded terrible to me.
    Way too digital.

The people demoing it were good players, the sound recording was good but I really could hear that horrible digital sound.

I wish it did sound good to me because I would have saved a good bit of money and easy hook up.
Besides I cant stand Apple products any more. (Using the phone as a display).

I give up on Fractal stuff. They make you wait forever to get anything.
This is the second sale they have lost from me.
I waited for many months both times but I give up.

Instead I went with the Strymon Pedals. I know I like the sound of these.
I was going to get just one for now but my GAS became explosive today.

I took a trip to Southern Maryland today because a place has them in stock down there.

Anyway, now how do I hook these things up?
I mean, what is the best route?
I run everything in stereo because I have two DXR 10s.

My wife will be home soon.
    I am getting nervous...... :whistling:

  • You should additionally have bought a nice pair of shoes. :D

You are right and I am not lying.
She has been very tolerant up to now.
    Is today the day?

Okay, what is the best way to hook these up?
Hurry, maybe I can sooth her a bit with a sweet Big Sky reverb serenade.

    Calling @paults 8o

    Or whoever, thanks

  • Three Strymon pedals in a day?

    How was your beating? :D
