I wanted one until I saw the price. For $300 I can pay a real drummer to come to my house and play
Well, maybe not but it seems a bit steep to me. The Mini Beat Buddy is only $100. I like that price a whole lot better... -
Looks very useful.
For rehearsal (also at home) it could be very usefull for our band. Our drummer is not retired and can not always be there.
I think the Mini does it for 1/3 of the price also. I did not figured out the functional difference. (Except stage equitable robustness).
For me the double footswitch seems to be a necessary accessory to the mini. -
There's a specs comparison table on their site. Differences are quite relevant IMO.
this is basically a drum machine (because you can program and edit it via computer) with the highest easiness for a live, real-time use.
now, if it only had bass lines...
Its ability to play odd signatures is amazing in itself, BTW!

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts, GianfrancBro' - it needs to be able to intelligently create bass lines like that unit we discussed a while back.

I feel you BroMM... OTOH, the Trio is just a simple "player" when it comes to drums... this is much more and, as for me, I'm not done with electing my preferred tool between the two...
Of course, in a perfect tool the Trio would have the DB's qualities and abilities...Mhhh...

Generally yes.
I think for rehearsal with the rest of the our band when the drummer has no time the mini also would be enough. -

At the moment I help myself with Backings I have made with "Band and the box" or Midi Files. (practising and reheasal)
I can deacticate all instruments we do not need.
The notebook I always have with me at rehearsal.

BB's strength is IMO the easiness of use in real time, the possibility to "create" the song's structure in real time and the integration with the guitar player's pedalboard\pedals set.
They should make a bass-playing pedal for drummers.

I have my BeatBuddy for about 2 months now & am using it regularly for my duo gigs, rehearsals & at home ... and it is so much FUN ... very realistic sounding (non-quantized, real drum wav-file samples - stereo if you like), tons of different styles, stomp box a-like foot control & completely customizable ...
... a great, great tool - can definitively recommend it

This I can imagine. A cover band is not really the place for creativity.
I will keep this device in mind. It seems to make fun to play whith it. -
Heard the Beatbuddy at the Musikmesse last year and frankly wasn't impressed much.
I feel that the Trio+ with additional FS3-X footswitch offers so much more (and this is why I got exactly that) -
The BeatBuddy is amazing and worth the price, IMO. The Mini Buddy is more a toy, since there you can´t change the Beats(like with Trio).
There are also permanent updates (like Kemper) for the Firmware and an amazing Forum (like here) and some users have furthermore worked some Drums and Bass-guitar Kits and there are also songs from the community to play the Drums with Bass included... It´s worth to read thru the BBForum... (okay, you see I am a happy user of BeatBuddy). One of my three best achievements in the last years... -
