  • Here some more information:

Our goal was to do like this:
    1) Create another comprehensive pack with BE sounds
(we used our Pink Taco for this)

    2) It should sound different from pack#56 (we created two years ago)
(so we used V30 speakers instead of Creambacks)

    3) We were asked to create some profiles with more bass
(we profiled each gain setting with 3 different settings of the bass knob)

    4) Some like to have a more aggressive tone
    (we dual miked with a SM57 and R121 - and used V30's)

    5) Some like a more tamed - not so treble sound
(all settings were profiled with a single R121 as well)

So this pack has 24 profiles of a single channel amp :)

    Enjoy!

  • Look forward to hearing some samples.

Good idea to offer some warmer profiles as that's the way I dial the BE of Pink Taco in when I have used them.

Likely to buy if you have gotten them right.

  • Hi Armin/ALL

Armin is there any plans to do MERGED profiles? (hint i suggest you consider)

  • No, we'll create full profiles all the time.

I have explained it somewhere else:

    1)
Full profiles capture the best sound according to all my tests.

    The KPA works like this:

    Filter1 - distortion generator - Filter2

Both filters are needed to capture the full sound of any amp setup.

It's not possible to store the influence of the amp AFTER the preamp distortion (power tubes, presence control, transformers ...) into Filter1.

    2)
Even when it would be possible to do this 100% - then I would surely not provide merged profiles - because all my work is in the second Filter.

Everybody with the same amp - creating DI profiles would create the same profiles.

The difference in profile quality comes from the used component (mics, cabinets, speakers, cables, preamps, room) and mic technique.

And this could be copied ('merged') with any other DI profile.

So I would basically sell only one profile pack - and then could my hard work - and all the money spend for the studio and equipment be merged into any studio profile to create new merged profiles.

  • I was asked if I'll ever profile the Friedman BE100.

    The answer is no.

Because the PinkTaco and the BE100 sound absolutely the same.
The BE only has more power (100W compared to 20Watt) - which will not be captured in the profile.
The BE has an additional clean channel - which may be good for a live situation were you need two channels - but nobody is very keen on this clean channel sound.

The HBE mode has more gain then the PT - but this can be compensated easily by turning the KPA gain knob a little bit more to the right side.

I was in the mood of buying a BE when I compared both amps - and went home with the PT - because I did not need the 100Watt here in my studio and both sound the same in the great overdrive section.

The latest pack #72 uses V30 speakers while the older pack #56 uses Creamback speakers.
