Use the compressor into the amp section.
Display MoreThe Profiler may provide some "virtual feedback" on high gain sounds by using the chromatic pitch in front of the stack. I combine it with a compressor for infinite sustain before the pitch. The pitch uses the ducking feature so the harmonies come in after the attack of the initial tone has decreased in volume. Create a patch using these settings with the Stack and fx you use for your lead tone, so you can kick the "feedback" in on the end of a solo. A Delay with high feedback setting provides an "infinite" feedback.
Settings as follows:
compressor:
Intensity 7.8
Attack 2.1
Squash +5.0
Mix 100%
Volume 0.0
Chromatic pitch:
Voice 1 pitch 24
Voice 2 pitch 19
Detune 2.3
Voice mix 0.0
Mix 60%
Ducking +1.8
Volume 0.0
EDIT: changed ducking value for pitch
try this. Hth.
Keep an eye on the Noise Gate level as well
I just discovered that if you use just the compressor with the settings listed by HELL-G, except increase the Intensity to 9.0, you can get a sound very like the intro to Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride when you play a 1st position E chord and slap the strings with your fingers or pound the strings with your fist over the pickups while playing a profile (with a gain of 6 out of 10) with a Strat (single coils) with the neck pu selected. Make sure the input noise gate on the KPA is turned off.
I was looking for a way to get that sound & I think I found it. Thanks for the inspiration, HELL-G.
