Is it just me but I so wish commercial KPA profilers would list clearly which products contain direct/merged profiles...
I'm looking to buy some and I want direct/merged but trying to clarify this is like pulling my teeth out!

LOL
I think if you read the .pdf or the banner for the rigs it usually states whats included including such designations. However, if it doesn't say anything I think you should assume they are Studio profiles.
Yeah. I think grappa's point is that one often needs to dig deep when it'd be so much more-convenient if such data, being as relevant as it is, were included at a much more superficial level so one could see it at a glance.
Basically
I've even dug into some of the data on the various sites and even then phrases like 'some merged profiles are included' is what I find..
Think it might be time to bring my FRFR project forward (and hide it from the wife) to get over this issue!

Sounds like a plan, mate.
I only use it in a studio situation so I'm more than happy with Studio Profiles, as I suspect you'll be too.
Amen! I've spent hours scouring various profilers' websites looking for just that information. For me they have to be merged or DI profiles so it's a real drag when I can't find that out easily.
Have you guys ever asked the people selling the profiles for the information? I would think they would as much information as you want about the profiles they are selling. If not I guess they won't be getting your business. The people selling profiles I have asked have been very nice in answering my questions.

Of course, and I didn't mean to imply that they were not perfectly willing to share that information. But it would save me a lot of time and energy if they would simply put that information in the description of the profiles for sale.
maybe an extra field in Rig Manager stating studio, merged or direct would help here?

As we have now the possibility for 3 subdirectory I make it as it is described above.
1. Vendor
2. Amp or name of pack -
3. Direct, Merged or Studio

It's even not sure if profiles carry that information - it has been requested several times already though.
my site lists them in two ways

If you are speaking of commercial profile vendors, specifically, I think you will find that TopJimi ( @Jimi71 ) consistently offers profile packages containing both Studio and Merged profiles. I, for one, very much appreciate that Jimi offers his customer's the flexibility of these expanded options. Plus, his profiles are absolutely of the highest rank...so there is that.
Cheers,
John
We've literally just updated our site but have always included relative information!
And our packs are in the process of having updates added to them ... (with more studio profiles, DAP's and now including NEW MERGED profiles & NEW PAP's or Pre-Amp Profiles...) all listed in each respective pack what they currently include & new additions etc. with a fair amount of detail too ...
...

How about in the comments? There is space to say guitar or Bass, surely a space to say merged etc... is possible?

I already do that in Rig manager too in comment : STUDIO, DIRECT, MERGED so you know which is which.. plus filename being RZ_AMP_D or AMP_S or AMP_M for direct,studio,merged.... plus ontop of website indications.
many methods to list, and other resllers arewelcome to use my system

This is optional and doesn't assure consistence across the library. It's just description field, which not everyone can use.
As for instrument type, you have "Guitar" and "Bass", you can sort by this column.

At GOT we purposefully state it in the rig title (main) field whether a profile is DIRECT ('DAP' or 'PAP') or MERGED ('MERG') ... (and if it doesn't state so then it is a studio profile: with the relevant cab & mic information also then included...)
...This way, you know immediately simply from a glance at your LCD screen on your Kemper (ie. if you don't have RM open or your unit isn't plugged into a device with RM or you're simply out & about with your KPA) not just what type the profile you have initiated is, but also deeper information such as channel selected / cab & mic used etc. for a more informative experience (and at speed!)
