Mission Engineering Kemper pedal - with spring or without?

  • Was just about to order one of these from their webpage.
They have it in black or green which is nice.
But they also have a spring version vs non-spring.

Is there any advantage to the spring version, besides the pedal returning to the upward position?
Am I missing something here? Is one version preferable over the other?

  • I have the spring loaded Mission. Very useful for wha/whammy, not so much for anything else (volume, morphing, delay, etc). I bought it before I had the kemper (axe-fx). If I had to get a new one for the Kemper I'd get a non-spring one.

  • Thanks for the info. I'm strictly looking for wah use.
Does the Kemper have an auto-engage funtion when using the wah? I imagine the spring loaded Mission pedal should be used in such a case?

  • You can chose how your pedal engages/disengages the wah: stop in heel or toe position, stop when moving and some others i cannot recall not sitting at the Kemper. Therefore I'd get an non-spring pedal to be able to find out what works best for you. Does that help?
