Do any of you use the preset Studio EQ "Rhythm" for high gain profiles. I Was playing around with the default studio eq last night taking out low end and tried the rhythm eq in stomp A. It sounds incredible. Do you use it in the X slots or as a stomp out front. I normally use the low pass to take out some unwanted low end but didnt realize there was a rhythm preset under studio eq. Im primarly looking at using this for live playing into a 2x12 cab. I want to make sure im not cutting something in the mix before I use this live.

I'm not sure you should be using presets for eq really. Surely listen to see what is needed and go from there. I always feel that if you are making drastic eq changes, it is better to go to another profile. Just a little high (80-100hz) and low pass (8-12k) really.
Putting the eq before the amp section won't have much effect in this case and you will effectively be equalising the pickup. the x slot after the amp is where it will show.

If a preset works, it works. Personally I never use them for EQs, since they are not smart enough to know what the source material is like
It can absolutely make sense to use an EQ before the amp section - it has an effect on how hard each frequency will push the amp. Real life stomp boxes also do this, although in a less "adjustable" manner

I ended up putting definition back to 10, removing the rhythm eq and using the btm knobs on the front instead. The eq boosted the volume some making me think it sounded better. Thanks for the reply's!
