Gretsch G5620T-CB

  • Thought I'd share an incredible deal on a brand new Gretsch G5620T-CB, for $450, with free shipping, and no tax. They usually go for $700-$850. This deal is only for the Georgia Green, model. Free shipping in the states says it'll take 7-10 days. The SKB-35 case is said to be a perfect fit.

You got an Amazing deal! I purchased that guitar a year earlier for $900 with Gretsch case. No regrets it's one of my most playable and best looking guitars, though I play it sitting down most of the time because of the weight. I really love the "cat eye" f holes.

One thing I could not get used to was the pickups and electronics (the Pots and harness are cheap). Recently I got a deal on new shielded quality harness with CTS Parts and Switchcraft and TVJones classics. Now it is my favorite! Filtertron pickups are the most versatile pickups I've ever played.

  • Motochick, were you able to buy an upgrade package that included all of these components, or did you search for each upgrade individually?

i bought the harness and pickups all together at http://www.SiglerMusicOnline.com . I think TV Jones sells the pickups and harness separately but a better deal at Sigler and it had everything I needed.

The only modification was to widen the control holes with a reamer or dremel tool to fit the USA 3/8" pots. Since the harness had a single tone control, I just put an unwired "dummy" pot in the other hole so it still looks cool.

I put the TV Classic / Classic Plus and love the tone. I don't currently see those on their website (maybe they are waiting for some more), but below is a link to the Setzer pickups. They are similar just a bit hotter wound.

  • I'm going to have to do something about these stock pickups and tone control, the guitar itself is very nice, but like you said, the tone circuit is lacking. Thanks, Jen.
