Haha, no, actually I had to try this myself because I rarely use it.

I use the "subscribe" feature quite a bit. I like getting notifications when someone responds to a discussion.
I must admit, I occasionally wish there was also a "hide this thread" feature, too 
On your phone browser, you could just temporarily select "request desktop site", subscribe to the thread, then go back to using the mobile site after you have subscribed.

Depends on the phone and the browser you use. On Android, you can find this button in many browsers by hitting the menu button (usually three points).

what mobile device do you use? in Windows Mobile you set this in system preferences. In Android (Chrome browser) tap 3 dots in upper right corner of browser and menu will pop up will appear, scroll down and tick "desktop version" option - iOS can't help

Anyone how to do this with Safari on an iPhone?
On my phone there is no way to load the desktop view and in the mobile interface, this icon is not available.
The problem is once I read a topic on the phone, it's hard to find it back later when on a PC since the topic won't show up anymore in the unread articles list. Very annoying...
No one? Maybe the forum crew knows how to do this? Or should I submit a feature request for this?
The only way I know how to do it on a iPhone is to respond to the thread, and use the post's "Settings" to watch the thread.
