Goodbye from Dimi

  • You know, I really wanna reply to each message individually, but I will combine replies in one post.

    1) After this thread got responses like this somehow weird-ass texts/attacks kinda stopped coming along. Peace! I guess you are right; love is indeed the right answer. In a non-creepy way. And @Monkey_Man rocks.

    2) I have never liked beer. BUT because of all the @ashtweth posts here about beer I decided to try one out this morning -- yes, morning, and enjoyed it quite a bit :D Also I am glad I saved human civilization :P And what a positive attitude Ash has. I respect that a lot in people.

    3) Customs stole the flowers and chocolate? Well, they need loooove too; fine by me :)@MementoMori, a bit random, but your cables rock :)

    4) Kemper didn't delete my account when I told them too, saying they value input here and with them directly, which is great; and as I replied to CK on the other thread I respect their attitude towards criticism too.

    5) Ash, what is the best beer? I need to experiment more with this substance.

    6) @sinmix is awesome and it will be more than sad if he is permanently banned from here (his profile just says "banned" now.. not "until date X"... dunno what that means.. But cannot really imagine a kemper forum without Sinmix. I talk to him quite a bit, enough so that I have started calling my dog "noob" when it cannot tell the difference between JCM vs my mod of JCM :P Not only does he bring tremendous value to the Kemper itself as a device (sinmix, not my dog), but he's generous as heck even if language gap may give off a different impression to some.

I'd type more, but need to run/work.. And why even have time off here if people rock as hard? ;))))

Thanks to all, you rock, and I appreciate your responses very much.

  • Ash, what is the best beer? I need to experiment more with this substance.

I know you asked Ash, Dimi, but I'm an Aussie too and was a connoisseur of beer when Ash was drinking mothers' milk, so I reckon I qualify for 2¢ worth:

Ash will recommend Organic German beer.

I recommend this too, if you can get it, but here's the thing: German beer benefits from the "no-tap-water" law; you can't use that crap to brew commercial beer in Germany. At least, that's always been my understanding, and the reason I've always ascribed to the fact that they taste cleaner and are easier to swallow (I'm super-sensitive to "poisons", my first clue being ease of swallowing!).

Further to this, the Germans have a knack and passion for specialisation and mastery, as do the Japanese, for instance, but the former have directed much time and energy into the art of brewing beer. Secrets and techniques are developed and discovered and passed from generation to generation. The German penchant for consistency and quality is borne out in the country's beer.

I like Löwenbräu. It's a pilsner, meaning it's not "sweet" like a lager (lager is to shiraz as pilsner is to merlot, IMHO), but it's super-clean and smooth; even chicks who hate beer can drink it. You should have no trouble finding it, so this is my first recommendation for you mate, unless...

... you require something even "safer" for a non-beer drinker. In this case, try the fruitiest-and-smoothest beer I've ever had, and I don't even know if they still make it; it was back in the '90s that I bought it whenever I could, but I don't drive anymore and therefore don't know if it's available in the larger or boutique liquor shops. It's called Moosehead, and it's Canadian. It's the ultimate beer to offer to a woman who hates the stuff; it'll change her mind during the first sip.

  • Hey bro', I tried everything in the '80s and '90s before I ran into some heavy health stuff and had to give up. First beer this century for me was last year, and I limit myself to 1 a month.

So, yeah, if it was around in the '80s or '90s, I would have. Looks tasty man, and strangely-familiar...

  • There are millions of these adds in the US, this was my favorite

  • Fosters is the crappiest Aussie beer by far. Nobody here drinks it, and I mean nobody. I've not met one person who does in 38 years of living here.

Interestingly, the last Fosters ad I saw over here was 25->30 years ago. It's like they gave up, knowing that Aussies had decided it was crap, and proceeded to push it overseas, where it's long been associated with Australia. A bit like Budweiser is to America, although that company has added some not-so-bad brews to its arsenal in recent years.

Anyway, overall, generally-speaking and so on, German beer is the schiz.

Cm'on Nicky, don't be a beer snob :D . This used to be called the "Oil Can" in america as it resembled the motor oil can in shape and even beer color. It was the tough working man's beer and one can contained two pints (32oZ), gave one hell of a buzz. Now it's brewed in America I believe.
German beer is great, but beer to most people is like Amps and Guitars to guitar players, constantly looking for other flavors, few will settle on one flavor (unless they can't afford variety :D )

That was the problem with Fosters here, Dean. We have VB (Victoria Bitter) and XXXX (in the state of Queensland), and they're the working-man's beer, VB in the south, and XXXX in the north. Fosters was always viewed as being Panther Piss™ - you could water your lawn with it. It had no flavour, so the beer snobs didn't like it either. Final resort: Sell it overseas.

    That Estrella looks beautiful.

  • Note to the mods:

Thank you, guys, for allowing us to talk about beer a little. Dimi, in being coaxed back, was suckered... I mean, tempted into trying a beer, something he never drinks. He shared that with us, and so, hang on... [Monkey strings his longest bow]... it's technically on-topic. :D

At any rate, thank you. It's a wonderful thing when a member, especially a valued one, decides to stay, and is IMHO cause for celebration, even if it is virtual and in the ethanol... I mean, ether.

    EDIT:
Kemperites, I made this a seperate post so the mods would see it; you guys know I always edit posts, as recommended in my "Etiquette Tips" document, if I've got nick-knacks to add.

  • Agreed, the crazy thing is that he received harassing none sense in social media. In the united states, there's an agency to complain to. The internet unanimity doesn't necessarily mean that you have to take harassment lying down. the Attorney General in any state will investigate this none sense and can prosecute any idiot who thinks they can get away with this. In England there must be some government agency also that sorts this kind of thing also I would imagine.

  • Wow, what an emotional rollercoaster... Can't I leave Denmark and internet access for a week without stuff blowing up while I'm away? :D

Very glad you decided to stay, Dimi!!!!

    Recap for you Michael
    SinMix banned for 10 days
    Sonic banned for ?? days
And Dimi...I still have no idea what happened.

Other than that, I am really enjoying my Kemper right now.

Yeah, there's a strong emphasis against this sort of thing in the UK, Dean. It all came to a head a while back when a drunk lady sent a threatening text / tweet or whatever, not realising what she was saying, so to speak. It became a national story. The poor gal pays a huge price every day for her one-off drunken stupidity. I think she even went to jail for a while.

The laws and enforcement were tightened there thanks largely to this particular case.
