My 'hybrid' Bassman rig

  • Hey guys,

I'm one of the lucky guitar players who own both an AxeFX II and a KPA.
I don't want to participate in the religious discussions - they're both great units.

Over at the Fractal forum there's a thread called "Bassman challenge" where they're trying to get as close as possible to this sound:

Which sounds f*in' awesome to me :D:thumbup:8o

Today, two Bassman profiles have been posted and both didn't really give me what I was looking for. Holgi's 1959 Bassman is too clean for me (adding gain on the KPA doesn't sound 'right' to my ears) and toneclone's 1964 Bassman cab didn't give me the sound of those good ole 4x10's that is responsible for quite a bit of the characteristics of the late tweed Bassman amps.

So I just did what's obvious - used the 64 amp and the 59 cab - there you go. Noodle around with it, compare it to the youtube video.
It's not 100%, but pretty close. Let me know what you think. Even if you don't like it - I do

  • Holy sh... Why I have not thought about it myself? Awesome, thanks! You have an A+ on my book.
