I certainly appreciate that some people will love the new "enhanced" volume screen. Personally I miss the old reliable "0 - 10" meter. The others indicators are useful, but just confuse life. Is there a way to either switch between the two, or incorporate the simplicity of the numerical system of the old with the enhancements of the new? If not, I'll go back to the previous version.

You can't.
Hopefully it doesn't get bumped and falls by the wayside; only serves to create confusion when firmware feedback is split-up. Another advantage of collecting it all together is that if you post an issue, those who've followed the thread will be able to tell you straight way if it's already been mentioned or solved.
Actually, there're too many advantages to break down here; most are self-evident.
Try not to poke any of those patients in the eye, mate.

You can't as Nicky wrote.
But you can add "SOLVED" in the head line, so all user know that there is no need for further discussion.
