Hi there,
I am looking into buying an active FRFR-Speaker as monitor when playing through a PA and speaker for small gigs without a PA.
What would you recommend DXR10 or DXR12 gor these purposes.

I'm in the same boat. Just using an old small Fender PA right now, but I'm looking at options.
From what I've read so far, people are liking the DXR10 because it's less "boomy" or some such.
I'll be interested to see the comments here!
I have the 12 and very happy with it.
I'm also happy with my DXR12.I'm using an isolation mat (Auralex Acoustics BABYGRAMMA Isolation Platform for Amplifers) to keep the boom in the room.
Any other comments on the dxr10 or dxr12 or does it not matter which one?

I have two DXR10's. To me they are less boomy than the 12's, loud and full sounding as hell and are a bit smaller. Is it possible for you to try them both, side by side?
I only play guitar and never tune lower than drop Db, but I can't see needing more bass than what the DXR10 delivers. I have a high pass around 100hz, on the Kemper, and the bass is punchy and tight on the DXR10.

Yes, probably. I can check them out at the MusicStore in Cologne. They carry both speakers.
I play Blues and Classic Rock in a Cover Band.

The DXR10 is not nearly loud enough. It's only a 10" speaker after all. Spend the little extra and get the 12. That way you'll have extra headroom as opposed to not enough. I have the 10 and it's really only good enough for bedroom levels or LOW volume gigs that have a PA. The DXR15 is awesome and I prefer that of the three, but it's also 50lbs.
The DXR10 is ... really only good enough for bedroom levels ...
This is by far the funniest statement I've read in a while.
From my experience, the DXR10 is more than loud enough for any size stage. You can't go wrong with either one.

I totally agree. And since when does speaker size say anything about how loud a speaker actually is (i.e. its efficiency) ?
The speaker does not have to be that loud. In bigger locations we utilize our PA and the DXR as Monitor.
For smaller bars (50-100 people) I would like to use the KPA and the DXR instead of a tube amp.

I mainly play in a rock cover band and our drummer is really, really loud. To be clear: my Marshall 4x12 with the JVM 410H was on around 7 (master) when playing the rehearsal room. I was quite sceptical if the DRX10 could Keep up with that when replacing my JVM but the DXR10 has enough power to go ahead as I am used too.
For me the DXR10 is the best solution - it is really really light, has way more headroom than I need and I can use it on stage, at home and in my bedroom if I want to. And you know what: because it is that light I am actually really using it at all of the locations
I also have the DXR10 and I'm very pleased with it. It is easily loud enough for any application I could imagine, sound is transparent enough and what's best in this thing IMO, it is very handy to carry around due to its compact size and sturdy handles.
I usually have the Low cut set at 100Hz when using it on stage to get rid of any excess low end.
The DXR10 is loud enough for almost any occasion. We have a very loud drummer and I have more than enough headroom on the DXR10.
I did not compare it with a DXR12, but I love how small this thing is!
Hi Bbb!
Nice to meet you here!
A few weeks ago I purchased 2 DXR 12! Pretty loud and rather "neuteral"
Works perfect for me!!!
I tried out one DXR 10....not much difference for my ears.
So, you wont send back your kemper...?
The DXR10 is fine unless you play heavily down-tuned, 7/8-string or bass in which case the DXR12 has more to offer in the low end.
I found that the DXR-series speakers have more power than I need for the Kemper, yet they fall short as PA-tops compared to the DSR-series speakers that I use so I ended up replacing them with a pair of speakers that work better a wedges, Dynacord AXM 12A. These are not quite as powerful, but I have been playing gigs without a PA where I stack two AXM 12As behind me with the KPA on top. It's been powerful enough to keep up with the rest of the band.

No, no I will keep it. It sounds very good in the studio and I really like its re-amping feature.
I just need to work on the gig set-up and find the right sound.
I prepared various profiles of my Marshall JCM 2000 TSL 602, which is main amp. I am trying to tweak the KPA to get as close as I can get, so that I can replace the Marshall with the KPA at first. Thema I will try to utilize other profiles. Clean profiles are easier, crunch and distortion are problematic.
Currently, I am experimenting with some HK Audio FRFR speakers of a friend, but I will try the DXR-series as they seem to be favoured by a lot of users.
I probably will start with DXR10 as I would like to reduce the weight, which I have to bring to a gig, especially to a small bar gig.
