As much as I love my Kemper I may have to fly to Germany next year for a gig and I'm not sure I wanna risk my expensive beloved profiler on the flight and the actual festival.
I've been looking at Atomic Amplifire which looks like it could suit my needs for such gigs.
Any other "fits in backpack" style stuff? Helix, Ax8, Boss GT-100 etc etc are too big.
I wish really Kemper came out with a smaller "load profiles only" device some day I know many others would love it as well

Once you've got the Profiles / Performances you want to use for the gig properly set up on your machine, do a backup via the Backup / Restore function on a USB stick and restore the state of your machine on the hire one.
Here's hoping someone in Germany offers hiring. Maybe Kemper knows; you'd think if it were available for hire in Germany, the company would know...

What about asking the german members of this forum if anyone can lend you his KPA for the gig? Maybe someone lives near the venue...
I cannot ask officially yet, because the gig is not 100% confirmed.
The festival has contacted us to come, instead of us begging them on our knees to play, so thats a huge plus at least!
For similar requirements I have a Boss GT-1: quite good sounds, fits in almost any bag and affordable.
Most likely at least any of the other bands will be using a Kemper. Since you are a nice guy i am sure you will be allowed to use it...

What about a Zoom G3 or G3n? Maybe even a G1on or MS-50g would be ok?
I had a G3x that had also very good sounds... just sold it, because I had no use for it that time.
I didn't check out the other devices, but only heard good things about them.

I fly with my KPA every other weekend. Always bring it as carry-on in the official bag, never had any problems.

Even if I was a regularly touring artist, I think I have blown my chances long ago with my online rants 
Despite all the crazy stuff I've said I really DO love the Kemper, it all comes down to knowing how to use it... I've been using it wrong, or used the wrong profiles, in addition to having bad acoustic treatment in my room so often I tend to use too bright sounding profiles and therefor my mixes turns into icepicky noises
I still struggle to balance my hearing and make my mixes sound good

Of course I'm not going with the cheapest worst solution I can find
I want something that sounds decent, is small enough to carry in a backpack, and doesn't break the bank.

Thats a bit too limited, doesn't have any chorus effect either (which I would want for clean parts)

When I played a festival a couple of months ago I had my Kemper with me first time. The sound techs was super happy about it

I just looked up where the festival is on a map (should have done that earlier)
It's actually "sort of" close to Denmark, so maybe best bet is to travel by car/van.
Then bringing my own Kemper isn't a problem
