Hey everyone. At the request of several people on Gearslutz, I did an A/B clip of the KPA and a 3 Monkeys Orangutan. Every 3 seconds it switches from one to the other - at the top of each phrase. Let's see if people can hear a difference, and if so, which they prefer....

I'm not in the studio right now, so i'm listening with just the laptop's speakers, also not familiar with that amp, but what I hear is this: it starts with better sound, more sparkle and definition, then a few second later it looses it and sounds muffled, then back again with sparkle, then muffled etc etc, so I'm assuming you're starting the clip with the real amp, then the profiler, If that's not the case the profiler sounds better then the real amp..

I'm hearing the same thing as DigitalTube. Even though I'm istening on a laptop with basic headphones I can still hear the change, especially in the low frequency distortion of the second sound.

I agree. First sound is always better... the second one sounds just bad, very muffled and not an open sound at all.

The sounds are close but not 100% identical. The first sounds better than the second to me.

Neither tone sounds very good to me, so the logical question is - who cares if it is copied accurately if it is ultimately unusable?

It's a matter of taste. There seems to be people who think Metallica's guitar sound is great...

First sounds better to me, but this is very subjective. It sounds more like a real amp miked up to me. The second one is way more compressed, just like what you'd expect from digital stuff.
Though, even if the second one is the KPA, it does a damn good job at capturing the overall feel and vibe, and with a little tweaking it could get there 99,9%. -
I couldn't understand the difference. They both sound very bad though ! (No offense just pure honesty)

Exactly what I thought. Unusable for me...it would go under in the bandmix...not a question of liking/disliking....would it survive in a tight and professional sounding mix? I guess not! -

Almost everyone thought the first is the Orangutan, the second the KPA. But in fact it is the other way around - the KPA first, amp second. -

This is a very fine example of what the KPA has to offer - it can enhance your tone even further from the original amp, and make it more sweeter. -
Here are 2 clips, clean/semi-distorted. Titled Blind Test Clip 1 and 2. One is the amp, one the KPA.
Clip 2 would be the KPA I think.
