gbs*Ibanz808 stomp

  • shortly:
1.I`ve profiled my vintage (no reissue) Ibanez TS 808 from 1980, and "kemperized" it as a rig
download at RIG EXCHANGE under: gbs*Ibanz808 stomp
2.you can use the Kemper for replacing your stompboxes (not delay, modulation fx... as you know) too

    long term:
    you can:
1.use it in front of an amp INSTEAD of a TS808 stompbox
2.feel free to turn the “cabinet” on/off
3.use it as a “full amp” in loading one of the cabs ( I prefer 4x12 marshalls, or 1x12 Vox e.g.), and send this to monitor speakers, fullrange P.A., FRFR, poweramp ...

    now you have:
not only one 808 stompbox, but as many as YOU want – by choosing the clean channel of an amp you can use a different setting (gain, EQ...), in opposite to switching to the crunch channel for example and reduce the gain for example and so on
I will upload some variations of the 808 too, with less/more gain (overdrive), different tone settings... soon

    how does it sound ?

This way you might get a clue how close (?) the kemepreized clone of the 808 may sound
btw – I did no refining, equing afterwards:

recorded live, trying to fiddle 4 times the same, twice with SM57, twice with E 906 in front of the 1x12 speaker
using singlecoil 2+3 on the first two licks, and singlecoil 3 only (bridge pickup) on the last lick

    4.Fender Stratocaster – kemperized808 – Engl - 1x12 – Sennheiser E 906

please make an educated guess, what could be the original stomp 808 / the kemperized808 one ? ;)

  • Even after the coffee I still don't get it. You want to use the KPA with real amp to emulate a single stompbox that cost less then 200€? Ok, I assume somebody is interested in. For me it would be cool if I could stick it in the Stomps, not in the amp block.

1.it`s not a 200.- stompbox, it`s a real vintage one - saw them floting around from 400 - 600 and more bucks (ebay...)
1a. that means it`is NOT allowed to kemperize an amp too, that`s under 200 bucks ? ok ;)
    2. "For me TOO it would be cool if I could stick it in the Stomps, not in the amp block." *agree*
3.the opportunity to replace many of my stompboxes for live gigging e.g. without having them on stage does it for me
    4. why not make an effect chain with ts9, 808 mad with a few different settings, and store them with Kemper ?
    5. why not make a few settings from ONE pedal, that fits perfectly to my real amp clean channel , the next setting (less gain, more gain...) for the secound (crunch channel)..
    6. I do have one (or two ?) other strange ideas, stay tuned ;)

Fair enough. For me bringing on stage the Kemper AND the amp defeat my purposes for the KPA. Interested to see if it still works when you chain more pedals, I remember comments from Kemper that the unit is not made to profile multiple gain stages...

  • Stomp profiling would be awesome. But you only could have one setting (yeah, I know - same as with the amp profiling) but with the stomp it is "limiting" somehow. Maybe CK could combine this with the "profile morphing" thingy that has been mentioned before.
