Could we create a Kemper Top 20 profiles

  • It would be cool if Kemper could create a top twenty Profile list. The rigs keep growing. This way we would have an idea what the users think are the best profiles.
    Thanks,

  • There should be some sort of rating system, but the problem is that one persons unusable profile is another persons treasure. :P

  • It's kind of impossible.

I've got a bunch of favourites that I think are very special.
However, today I was in a pro studio demoing the KPA to two top guitarists/engineers, just quickly going through some stock Profiles and users Profiles....I've got every user profile on my demo KPA.
They were playing guitar, not me, I was standing a few meters back from the studio monitors and just listening, blind as to which Profiles they were playing.

Well, surprise surprise...they would land up on a Profile that sounded incredible, they were blown away and so was I, thing is, it wasn't one of my favourites, many times it was just a Profile I hadn't previously concentrated on.

Example, I hadn't yet tried the GA SD30 Budda Profiles, forgotten they were even on my KPA....they are excellent.
    The Peter Fischer CAE100...brilliant.
The Nashville Tom Hemby Bad Cat.
    The Nashville Matchless Cheiftan.
    Ola's Triple Rec.
    sheguitarplayer has some excellent Profiles.
    Tony McKenzies Dumble HRM.
    Uwe's JTM.
    Markus JCM800.
    The Stevens Poundcake.
    Kempers AC30 Top Boost.
    Kemper Mesa Roadking.
The Mesa MKV (can't remember author)
Of course anything by Manfred Franzkowiak, all excellent.
    etc, etc, etc...

It goes on and on like this, there are just so many, and everyday in a different environment a few previously unknowns sound amazing and become new favourites.

Hi Lance, your situation is a bit different, you are daily exposed to a lot of different playing styles, guitars, studios...for most of us it goes down to "our" sound and the best profile to achieve it. I gig with 7-8 profiles, not more. At the moment they change continuously every time that I find a "better" (for me) profile to cover what I'm looking for. I could (and believe a lot of other people here) easily make a Top 20 based on my taste, not on the one of 15 different players working for 6-7 producers on completely different projects like you have to do. ;)

  • I was up late last night going through Every Single Factory Rig along with All 58 Pages Of User Uploads trying to whittle the list down to, simply, the profiles that seemed most promising for Crunch Purposes (in the Dream Theatre/djendt sense.)

That's 207 Factory Rigs and another 307 User Uploads for a total of 514 rigs. After a couple more passes of auditioning the ones that made the cut, I ended up with 68 rigs which are undoubtedly going to get whittled down further but I thought I'd pass them along. All I can say is, God Bless IZArc (http://www.izarc.org/) for making such a convenient (and free) tool for editing .kpbackup files. It's really worthwhile, one you've saved out all of your factory backup rigs and cabinets, to edit a .kpabackup file that contains No Rigs and No Cabs in order to keep the Browser in an uncluttered state. Then, you can just import only the rigs & cabs you prefer on the fly... if you don't like 'em you can always just wipe them all out and start over by reloading your empty .kpabackup.

  • Hi guys, I am Pat. I am on day 3 of my kemper life.

I have spend the last 48 hours on browsing throught the profiles and I was thinking also on doing a top 10-20 but come on, how can you do that?! 8|8|

How can you say well for clean I am going for the Fender 65 from Gene, or the clean Riveira 100, or this other Tills profile etc etc..

I now that for our set I will only have to take 2 or 3 amp and cabs and honestly whilst I had now issue with the Ultra, this is my biggest problem now with the kemper as I want them all... :D

  • Then, you can just import only the rigs & cabs you prefer on the fly... if you don't like 'em you can always just wipe them all out and start over by reloading your empty .kpabackup.

  • I spent a lot of time in this one last night...The Stevens Poundcake.
That one alone would have sold me the unit.

Guitars-Lifeson Axcess Red, Lifeson Axcess Brown, Iced Tea Axcess stop tail, LRP Sig 57
    Amp-Axefx2, KPA, G5, GSP1101, RCF, QSC, Matrix, EHX-Mag44

  • I have marked my favorites by adding a number to the name. Say I want the rig EVH2 as one of my favs and assign the midi number 012 to it...then I change the rigs name to 012 EVH2 too. That way I find all my midiassigned rigs as a sequence sorted by name. When I like a rig but haven't finally tweaked it yet, I put the number 200 before it's name. That way I can easily find these rigs sorted by name. Think about it. It works well for me.
