Testing: Direct to DAW VS DI patch through miked cab

  • I've been curious about this for a while:

    - would the kemper sound better using either
    a) the direct to the DAW approach with IR cab simulation
    b) the miked cab route, bypassing the cabinet IR simulation and miking it on a guitar cab

I tried a simple small test and can't really make up my mind what sounds better, both sounds would work fine in a mix I guess, check it out and tell me what you think:

  • I cant fathom out why you would want to do this at all tbh!

The KPA cabs are great and you can swap and change the whole cab/mic(s) chain effortlessly to get to where you need to be. No micing and messing around and you have access to many cab/(mics) combinations that have often been setup by people who really know how to mic a cab..

    Just my 10 cents.
