My thought, as well. If the idea is to alter tone at the pre-amp stage, adding an EQ to a pre-amp slot is one way to go. Another option is to change the position of the tone controls from post to pre. -
Are you sure that the definition parameter is made for this ?
It seems that the manual description talk more about a parameter to modernize the sound.
How does this parameter work ?it works both ways: increase Definition for a more modern, descrease for a more vintage sound
"Vintage amps distort the lower harmonics in the guitar signal which gives them their bluesy sound. These amps were originally designed to deliver a clean sound, so to achieve a creamy distortion, these amps need to be driven by a typical transistor-based device like a treble booster. Yes, a tilting EQ would be great.
There's such a tone control in my Roland System-1 synth that just shifts the overall frequency spectrum from darker/bassier to brighter/airier and I am using it all the time to quickly shift the tone to fit the mix.
