what options are out there and what features?
Can the digitech control 2 easily be setup to change profiles and toggle effects?

The Profiler can be controlled via:
Profiler Remote
analog temporary switches and expression pedals directly connected
MIDI
NRPNAs far as I can see, the Digitech Control 2 is no universal MIDI foot controller. It offers no MIDI sockets and cannot be connected to the Profiler via Ethernet cable. You could only connect it indirectly via the digitech main device connecting the main device's MIDI Thru to the Profiler MIDI In. It appears it can only send MIDI control changes and no program changes.

Cheap alternative is the FCB1010 with Kemper Uno chip.
The advantage is they are easy to set up and you can access most features, including expression pedals and tuner.
The remote takes some beating though, so I would highly recommend the remote.
