I got my Kemper a few weeks ago and have been loving it! I recently profiled my Friedman BE100 and really enjoy the resulting profiles. The amp is super articulate, and the definition control wound up at 10 after profiling. Because I’m so used to playing it, I find myself cranking the definition control on many other profiles to get the sounds in my head, which works fantastically.
I love using fuzz pedals out in front (specifically DOD Carcosa) but have found that higher definition settings bring out a lot of 1.2k harshness that doesn’t occur at lower definition settings, or in the real amp.
I’ve concluded that the best solution would be to save a copy of a rig of any high-definition profile with a lowered defintion, for use with the fuzz only. I tried EQ before the stack, which I think changes the overall tone a bit too much in order to tame the high end.
Have you run into this issue before, and if so, do you have any other ideas?
