New OS 5.5.1
Why are the tuner lights flashing on my on/off selector all the time, rather than showing what I have selected??!

On/Off selector behavior!

I’m talking about the chicken head knob lights. Has something changed???
-
It's another view of the tuner and it’s been there for a long time.
-
I didn’t update for a while. Can I select to use the simple tuner, browse, perform, profiler lights, rather than the light show? Thanks.
-
Are you out of tune? Or, do you have a hum or buzz that would cause the Tuner to flash?
-
These are the first sentences from the manual section "Using the Tuner" and this functionality has not changed since day 1:
Using the Tuner
The tuner LEDs above the Chicken Head Knobare always active, so you can monitor your tuning while you play. Even whenyou're not in tuning mode, the LEDs give you general information as to whetheryour guitar is in tune or not. If a guitar string is far out of tune, only theouter LEDs will be on. ... -
Well I'll be... how dare Kemper conceal this old-fangled information in the first sentence on using the tuner.
What'll they think of next?
-
Maybe I wasn’t clear about what it’s doing. All three are on simultaneously. But never mind. Hey Monkey, you’re not all that enlightened.
-
Thanks man; you're not all that "Student" either.
It's normal for all three lights to be on if you're well-in-tune; only the intensity will vary IIRC, but from what you're implying I take it that all three are at maximum brightness?
If so, I agree that'd not be normal.

Erm, I think only the middle light is on if you're in tune, Nicky. The two lights on either side indicate if you're sharp or flat.
@skydog, could you please try with another guitar and confirm this is the behaviour? A photo would be good too.
Do note that the note shifts up and down, almost impossible to play a note at a fixed velocity that will make only the middle light stay on permanently while tuning.

So the intensity isn't just way-down as I suggested? Are you saying that they're completely-off in this situation, AJ?
Haven't had the pleasure of seeing the unit in action for a long time so had to rely on memory...

IIRC, when it's flat and slightly on tune, the left-most light and the middle light will be lit, with either one going off first. If you're flat but slightly on tune, the right-most light and the middle will be lit, with usually the middle light dimming first. -
Yes, dimming (which is what I've said all along), but completely going out?
Thank you for indulging me, brother. This distinction seems to be critical in understanding the OP's issue or lack thereof.

Yeah, they go out. The spill from adjacent LEDs shows through the glass, but the lights for sharp/flat/in tune are never all on at the same time.
-
Thanks man. Must've been the spill that I was remembering.

Yeah, seems like a design oversight imo. But really, I'm nitpicking when I say that. -
Hey, guitarists pick by default. Nothin' wrong with that, brother.

One should not have nits though, Nicky!
