Profiling process improvement: Allow noisy amps or allow noise gates

Hi, it is quite frustrating to me to dial in an excellent death metal or black metal tone and then find that I am unable to profile it because there is too much hiss generated by the amp.

Death metal bands have been using HM-2s and other devices in front of their amps for a long time to get their tone.

In that respect, all it takes to tackle the hiss that is created by the amp is a simple noise gate, either in the DAW or in the loop of the amp.

While I understand an advanced algorithm is used for the profiling process which the hiss might interfere with, it seems like a big shortcoming to be unable to profile high gain amps.

I wasn't even boosting channel 4 of my VH4 and the Kemper was unfortunately unable to profile because the hiss was there.

I repeat, all it takes is a simple noise gate to kill this hiss when using just the amp. The profiling process must be able to overcome this serious shortcoming.

People have been using excessive gain on recordings for a long time. That's what made some recordings memorable.

It just doesn't make sense.

On a side note, I really cranked my amp through this Hesu cab I bought last week. Great tones, you really need to raise the volume and the speaker really opens up. A very different flavour from my Texas Heat, more like a V30, but a modern voicing.
