Admit it, Muddy...you only uploaded that for the eye candy. And I am quite thankful you did. :)

But let's face it (and I am also a classically trained pianist)...she is no Martha Agerich.

And for those of you who can't bear to listen to this amazing performance from beginning to end...I implore you to listen to the incredible extended cadenza from the First Movement of the Rach 3, between timestamps 10:40 - 12:00. Simply jaw-dropping chops and technical mastery of probably the most difficult passages in the entire Concerto. Also, I am surprised she didn't break the Steinway with the raw strength and power of her attack.

  • So, I guess this would classify as "virtuoso", even if it is vocal performance.

Some of you guys who have seen the film "Bohemian Rhapsody" may already have heard about this guy, named Marc Martel. Evidently the vocals used in the film are a composite/mix of Marc Martel and original Freddie Mercury vocals. The main actor, Rami Malek, who absolutely deserves the Oscar this year for his performance, lip synched the vocal parts.

In any event, here is Marc Martel covering "Bohemian Rhapsody". To say that he nails Freddie Mercury would be an understatement. It is downright un-friggin'-canny.

  • The best non Freddie Queen vocalist I ever heard was the gig they did with George Michael. Damn, that guy could sing.

And you have to love Brian Mays guitar playing. Probably the most lyrical soloist in rock. His phrasing and tone are other worldly.

  • I don't know why, but my sense of humour has always meant that when I hear the term, "Hello Kitty", I break out in laughter.

Imagine my delight when I discovered these clips. That Pokemon kit sounded way-too-good 'though. I mean, seriously, that thing's world-class. Poor Hello Kitty.

  • Ha! I actually had that one in my draft as the first clip, GJ, but then I figured seeing as it's a virtuoso thread and Zakk's playing wasn't exactly up-to-par by his standards, I opted for the John 5 one instead.

I ignored all the various Hello Kitty electric-guitar clips 'cause there were so many of them.

Funny, I wondered why Zakk had overdubbed the vocals and it was only on my third viewing of that clip that I realised his lips were moving under his beard. :D

  • Dude,

The longer I'm on this forum, the more I find that I have in common with you. I love Gambale and Corea, and own quite a few of their works along with solo efforts from Patitucci and Weckl. They definitely have musical chemistry together and it clearly shows in all of their work. I have a couple Scott Henderson efforts (Nomad, Tribal Tracks), as well. So while I am primarily a metalhead at heart... I love me some fusion, smooth jazz, and classical to break it up, sometimes.

Anyway, all this just to say, GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE. :)
