I have a specific Clean rig that I use as a volume reference, and a specific Gain rig.
I A/B one of those rigs (in Browse Mode) to the new Performance Slot (by switching back and forth from Browse Mode to Performance Mode ) to balance the new Slot to the Rig.
I use Youlean (free plugin) to check lufs and peak level for each rig. This gives a good non-subjective way to set consistent loudness across all performance rigs.
I use a sound level meter app on my iPhone, placed in a fixed position from my speaker cabinet and set most of the individual rig volumes to a consistant average dB. Level. This works very well for me! It eliminates the big volume swings, and my ears just aren’t as good as they used to be ( I wonder why).
