Hi, I'm looking for a reliable tuner, the kind you clip on your headstock,
I need a fast tracking one and maybe without button sized battery but rather AA or AAA batteries.
any advice or feedback is welcome
thx

Best I’ve used are the TC Electronic PolyTune and UniTune ones. They don’t take regular batteries, though.
i use the little snark clip on tuner. It works a treat. Apart from the button battery that it has, it's cheap, reliable and out of the way.
Polytune clip on - very reliable and fast tracking
thx , that was some really quick answer ,
maybe open tuning options should also be an option for my slide works
For the price, the Snark SN-8 has been unbeatable for me. It still tunes a standard electric in a noisy stage environment when others are playing. I have had a few headstock tuners, but this is easily the best so far. You never have to think about muting the amp either.
I recommend TC Polytune or Peterson StroboClip HD
Yet another vote for the Polytune clip. The accuracy is excellent.
ok many thx , I've a snark on the way , this one will also fit my trumpet
Tc polytune is great. Handy for on the fly tuning- just turn down your volume if you wish to mute. Takes 2/3 seconds from powering on to enter a usuable state and auto-powers off after about 5 mins.
Some of the cheaper ones are prone to picking up external interference/noise/vibrations if youre tuning in a noisy environment, more so if tuning an acoustic or semi-acoustic.
I recently bought a cheapo 2,5 euro (3 USD) clip-on from AliExpress and was absolutely happily surprised! It works like a charm with a 2032 battery and was really accurate. I tuned with the Kemper and at the same time looked at the clip-on and it was bang on with the Kemper tuner and really quick.
I bought a Korg PC1 for open mics and any gigs where I didn't have my tuner-equipped Kemper or other pedal boards with me. It worked great in quiet environments but was absolutely useless in any noisy environment, i.e, a stage. Does anybody recommend anything that will actually work in noisy environments and is chromatic? Thanks!
Snark SN-8 works well on stage whilst others are playing. I have it on the headstock of an Ibanez RGA. I heard good things about the Polytune too.
