Rig Manager 3.0 Editor

  • Difference is an acoustic sim is not practical for every person. Some never have a need for one.

Equally true for an editor. Some never have a need for one. Like me!

What is interesting is why we all spend (= waste) our time debating the use or priority of an editor for anyone when we all probably would sound VERY much better if we spent that time practising?

I will now fire up my KPA and have FUN!

    Cheers,

    Thread's getting cool again. :)

  • The Kemper is a Computer that you can plug your guitar into and play. I like big screens for my computer and that is what the editor does for me! I can find things 10x quicker than scrolling through the screen on the kemper. It allows me to tweak 20x faster which allows me to play more than spending time on the small kemper screen. I realize there are people who don't even use Rig Manager. They just plug and play, COOL! I like to get the most for my money and the editor does just that. As I mentioned earlier, I appreciate the die hard tweakers that find all the cool tricks from the editor that I find useful.

Once the editor is released the skeptics might very well be commenting on how it does make things Easier...Even if it's just ONE thing. Who knows the skeptics may be the ones requesting features for the editor!!!;)

I didnt eat Ranch dip or dressing for decades. I figured it would taste like spoiled milk or some such. I love it now. I figure the editor for some will turn out just like my Ranch dressing did. ;)

If you use FRFR the benefit of a merged profile is that the cabinet is totally separated in the profile.

  • I got to see and dabble with the editor at NAMM. It's very, very cool and I definitely see folks liking it way more than they expect. I won't go on a tirade to try and validate it, folks are going to stand by their opinions regardless until it's out.

Nope, it's not going to do much for the plug-n-play types. It's the ones who want/need/prefer building a rig from the ground up that will be singing the highest praises. It's a lot more natural, almost akin to putting together a rig with tangible hardware.

TBH, unless there was a stability issue I can't fathom what the holdup might be. It was functional nine months ago. Literally saw it in action with my own eyes. If it's not ready it's not ready. It's not my name on the box so I don't get to make those calls.

Just a guy who plays a little bit of guitar.

  • Here's something that Nonlinear Labs does that would be really cool if Kemper implemented:

The C15 (a synth) can create it's own access point, so from any device with a browser (i.e., Desktop/Laptop/iDevice/Android/etc.) you simply jump onto its network and pull up it's editor/patch librarian. Super intuitive and super useful. Also, there is no need for a physical connection with any computer/tablet/phone.

If you wanted to, you could go nuts and have different parts of the synth module editable on as many different screens as you have! You could also have someone else tweaking parameters as you're playing onstage 50 feet away.

Now, wouldn't that be cool? Nonlinear Labs is another German company, btw, started by the founder of NI.

  • I, like many others, am looking really forward to this editor. While I love the ToastMe! editor for Damian Greda, I would love to see the fully integrated product without the need to have a midi interface to control it. Just my 2¢.

    Peace out,

    JP (Pierre) Moatti

  • I think you just like arguing. As Mats said above - he's perfectly content editing on the KPA itself, so (your words) - "the OPTION of a desktop editor" is just that, an option. It does NOT make it absolutely necessary that every user will benefit from it. I understand your point, truly I do, but some will probably never use it.

Especially those who never use the Rig Manager, which was another piece of superfluous software for a specific group Kemper owners.

I've never personally used any of the Kemper FX that were tagged onto a specialist Amp Profiler product, but I am not saying I will never use them at some point in the future. I am very happy that they exist, should I ever want to try them out.

Of course some people couldn't live without the Rig Manager or Kemper FX, or the new Editor, so I am glad that Kemper cater for all kinds of users.

  • Rig manager is worth it for the searching , sorting auditioning alone

what, you want to wear out your controls endlessly scrolling through settings?

Absolutely! But with a mouse ;)
