Rig Manager 3.0 Editor

  • Nevertheless, kemper does NEED an editor, because all the competion has one.

The KPA does not NEED an editor. I have used mine without for over 5 years and so have many other users....BUT ( and given I was one of those asking for one), it would be better with one, for both practical and marketing purposes. No one is denying the demand, it just doesn't stop me playing the thing..

So can we stop the debate on that as its been had so many times on this thread already.

  • I don't know why people cant wrap their heads around this concept

Because it's not what they want to see/read. Has nothing to do with anyone not getting it.

I mean....RM 2.3.14 is still pretty doggone crash-happy on my Mac.

Im not having any crash issues on my Mac Ive noticed.

If you use FRFR the benefit of a merged profile is that the cabinet is totally separated in the profile.

    in a word, no. :P :D

But I understand the point you made- the KPA does "not" need an Editor to operate/function.

  • I don't think it makes sense to keep arguing with the subject "an editor is or is not necessary". Many people (me included) are only anxious to receive the editor after a long time since it was announced, but luckily they are updating us on the current developing status, so we just have to wait, hoping it won't take much longer. I guess any controversy at this point is superfluous.

  • And just now with the latest iteration is getting close to the Kempers' 7 year old technology....not sure how that is a Pro to you or why you would want that for the Kemper.

I don't get your logic, unless you're insinuating that the unit could actually be made to sound better but they aren't doing that.

Hi, do you still use your 2000's Nokia phone and use a garmin GPS or paper maps and dslr camera wherever you go or have you upgraded to one that encompasses all these features ?

A nokia phone will still work perfectly as a phone as good as any other offerings but i'm sure you have upgraded by now.

Do you really want ckemper to release a refreshed version every year with some minor "quality of life improvements" but keeping the core sound to the same high quality, forcing you to buy a new unit and your old unit going down in value? The way Kemper is doing is doing it is the most ethical and best for the consumer. They know they can make more $$ buy charging for incrementally revised units but refuse to do so b/c it is not for the benefit of the consumer and would be a bigger headache for the company when it comes to manufacturing. He said so himself in an interview with Andertons.

Nobody is forcing anyone to buy anything, that's just dumb. I just want to buy a tool that has the features that i need and preferably support the local economy while doing it.

I dont care for diminishing values of the kemper unit if newer ones get released, i'm not buying it to hand it down as a family heirloom, it's an electronic device, it's just a tool to get the job done, it will break at some point and get its materials recycled.

If the device "value" depreciates on the second hand market that's good in my book, this means people who can't normally afford to spend so much money for this can afford it now and everyone is for the better, of course not for the people who buy this as a resell investment or snobs.

  • That would be misleading. It’s mostly 6 guys going back and forth about why it’s not needed, and why it is. Mostly content free. Of course it’s just passing time while the editor slowly weeps.

Maybe it is exactly the opposite?

Maybe it is just a few guys here claiming the world can't live without editors while it is still a "sold out product" DESPITE the missing editor?

Otherwise it makes no sense.A Paradoxon.

Some guys like you are implying that..

All the guys who are buying the KPA right can't do the following simple things:

    A)Having internet.In 2019.

B)Don't inform themselves before spending for an very expensive piece of gear.

C)Don't look into the half dozen blogs for gear in which "several" guys have gone mad in a bizarre way about the missing editor..

    D)Can't read the manual.

I claim that all these things are very unlikely. The ONLY rational and logical answer to why the KPA(no matter Stage or Head/Rack) is still sold out everywhere and "out of stock" is very simple..I already said it.

The majority does not care about it.

I don't think it's* ever* made sense to argue the point. Yet, we do. Present company included.

Just like a roulette wheel at the casino...."Round and round she goes. Where she stops? Nobody knows." Except in this thread the odds are better. You nearly guarantee the argument will reappear in some form on nearly every new page.

I wasn't debating the need for it... and no it doesn't stop me playing the thing, but it definaltey stops me from diving deeply into its possiblities. I just load up effects in logic because its just faster

  • Just to be clear, are we saying an editor is needed or not? 🤔🤪

It is needed if you want to use the KPA to its full potential.

If you are one of those many, many, many players who just came from a one/two-channel tube amp with a wah and a TS the Kemper OS1 will still be an overkill..

Now..lets look at the sales numbers out there and lets guess which of these two groups are the majority..shall we?

  • It is needed if you want to use the KPA to its full potential.

This is such BS. As if the last 8 years of Kemper owners have left something on the table. Which they have not.

    Sales numbers mean exactly squat.

  • At this point I could care less about need -vs- want. It does not matter what other companies offer either. What matters is that the editor was announced almost a year ago and need it or not it will simplify workflow if you decide to use it. For those of us like myself that are using the new stage unit it is going to be a huge convenience. I personally have mine mounted on a 34" long pedal board and not likely to ever get that up on my desk to work on. If I had a toaster I would not care as much about an editor but I have a stage unit.

Many people like myself have come from other platforms, I used to be a Helix user and you dont really need an editor for that either but I dont like sitting on the ground to adjust things. Endless hours of sitting on the ground to tweak things is a huge reason why I am now a Kemper user. I dont spend nearly as much time on the ground as I did with the Helix but it would be nice to do things like setup effects without having to be on the ground.

  • For me I need the editor So my unauthorized Kemper

Purchase can remain hidden under my desk! Lol

    just saying !

Not that my use case validated anything what so ever ! Or adds anything to the argument... but I am pushing my luck and will be found out soon lol....

but it’s fun watching the to and fro on this forum its a great distraction ! And some good points on all sides....

  • I guess it depends on how you define full potential. For chucks and giggles, please tell us how you use it to its full potential?

Show me a functionality the editor will bring that isn't currently available directly on the unit. Or using Rig Manager as-is. (edit for nit-picking).

Getting 'everything' out of the unit is possible as-is.
